A city in the dark

Living in the rural areas has its perks. One of my favourites is the night sky. The millions of stars, glimmering in the dark. The moon, enlightening the black, cold sky. Being in the city most of my days, I miss them. The stars, the moon. They are like dear friends. They follow me around the world. The shimmering lights drown in the sheer endless lit up windows and billboards. Their light is too weak, they can't outshine the man-made. Here and there, there is a little glimmer between all these walls and windows, it reminds me of how much I love the night sky.
But also the city lights have their beauty. They shine almost like stars. Cars, windows, billboards, traffic lights, flickering in the dark. A city in the dark, almost like billions of stars. Yet they could never replace the beauty of real stars, can they? Do people in the city even know, how the night sky looks out here? The real sky? Where you can see these billions of stars, the suns and stellar pictures? Or can they only imagine, look at photographs? I doubt they really know the feeling one gets looking at this incredible beauty.
