it was around five o'clock in the evening on a thursday, on a school site in a small town in china. it was quite cold out and xiaojun just finished his singing lessons, and he was wanting to go home. he only had a thin gray hoodie on over his uniform since in the morning it was warm. in other words, xiaojun knew he wasn't going to be at all comfortable walking home in just this.

he made his way towards the exit of the 'musical arts' building. singing, piano and other instrument classes and lessons were situated here. getting to the exit, xiaojun just stood there. looking through the doors, not wanting to step into the cold. he reckoned that if he stalled walking home, it would make the situation better. but of course. it wouldn't.
