if you put me in a room full of all the people i have ever fallen in love with—there would be only one.
if you get me drunk in the middle of the night and tell me to call all the people that liquor makes me recall
—there would be only one.
if you ask me of all the moments that i have missed when i was still living them
—there would be only one.
if you tell me that the world is coming to an end right now, and this is the time to say goodbyes and mourn our sorrows and revel in our glories, and to memorize every face i have lived
—there would be only one.
if you ask me to spell out all the names that have brought me joy
—there would be only one.
if you ask me if i have ever fallen in love,
i'll tell you i havent.but that i came close enough to it.
close enough to know what the poetry, the movies and the cinematic romance is all about.i came so close to it, close enough to touch.
and all at once,
it was just yet another goodbye.and if you ask me how many of the infinite goodbyes I've exchanged have truly hurt my heart
—there would be only one.and it was yours.
there was only ever one;
and it was you.it was supposed to be you, and summer was supposed to be ours.
fin.
note;
in loving memory of the summer that my best friend—who inspired this memorabilia of summer memories—left.
