Chapter 3

Chapter Three: Mass

Damnit! I hate it today! It’s the day my girlfriend died! My only girlfriend! Why couldn’t I save her! I get on a plane and go to the Countryside. We lived in a small town in Idaho. As I arrive there I feel my heart stop. I walk to a golden field with lots of tall grass. There lies a stone with fake flowers. I start to cry a bit. 

Mass: Damnit! Why!! 

I hate this day! You were supposed to be there forever! You promised me, Riva! Damn you,  Antake!! I hate my ability! I hate myself! I knee down in front of the stone. 

Mass: I’m sorry, Riva. 

I take off my glasses revealing my purple eyes. I cry harder. 

Mass: This is my fault. I should have kept you safe! I should have been stronger, but I was weak! I still am! I hate myself! Damnit! 

I keep crying.

Mass: I hate my ability! Everyone I care about leaves me because of it! My mom and dad! You were the only one to ever love me! And now you’re gone! 

After I finally calm down I stand up and walk away. I decide to pay my old home a visit. As I walk through it, I see a couple of people I knew back then. Hopefully, they won’t notice me. Unfortunately, a guy wearing a pink shirt and blue jeans come up to me. He has blonde hair. 

Justin: Mass, is that you?? 

Shit, I forgot to put on my sunglasses there in my right pocket. I sigh. 

Mass: Hey, Justin. 

I say to him. He smiles. He hugs me then lets me. 

Justin: Haven’t seen you in a while! 

I nod. Not like I want to see you at all. He pulls me along to meet the others. This was a mistake. Should have put on my sunglasses when I had the chance. A girl with long wavy black hair and a black dress greets me as we go into a restaurant. 

Ruby: Mass! 

She hugs me too. She then let’s go. 

Ruby: I can’t believe it! You've gotten so tall! 

I nod. 

Mass: Yeah … 

I say with a sigh. 

Justin: So, what’s going on with you? 

Like fuck I’m gonna tell you my story! It’s better if I make them feel guilty. 

Mass: I have friends! Four really good ones! 

Justin frowns. 

Mass: I have a good, really well-paid job! 

Justin: Really? 

Mass: Yep! 

Ruby keeps smiling. 

Ruby: Who’re your friends? 

Justin takes a drink of alcohol. I suddenly smirk. Everyone knows Jason. 

Mass: Jason, Isaac, Niku, and Marquis. 

When I say his name Justin spits out his drink all over Ruby. 

Ruby: JUSTIN!!  

He yells. I keep myself from laughing. Take that bitches!! I leave after smirking. I put my glasses on, once I get to the plane. When I get to the apartment I laugh my head off. The others look at me like I have five heads. 

Isaac: You ok?! 

I tell them what happened and they laugh too. 

Marquis: Are these the same people who bullied you??

I nod, laughing. We all keep laughing. After Jason makes salmon for us for dinner. We all sit at the table. I frown at Marquis. He always wears the same outfit. A purple sweatshirt with blue jeans. I wonder if his closet is just filled with them. I sigh and shake my head. 

He’s pretty short for his age. He has the height of an 11-year-old. His weight is pretty good though. 

He’s a vegetarian, but he drinks milk though… Do vegetarians milk at all? Hmm, have to look into that. Anyways, We get our salmon and Marquis gets a salad with tomatoes and lots of carrots. He loves carrots. 

We eat together and talk about our day. Isaac starts a food fight with Niku and Marquis. Jason and I just eat ignoring them. We make them clean up afterward while we watch TV. Jason falls asleep on my right shoulder. Marquis is on my left while Niku and Isaac fall asleep on my lap. We are a family and I have to deal with this all the time, but I don’t mind. I smile and start to fall asleep as well.
