I need a break.
I closed up shop, locked the door and decided I needed a walk.

My first mistake.

It's almost 9pm in New York? What the fuck was I thinking? I took the longer, scarier way to the complex. I thought it would be fine since half way through there is a block of different stores. After that I would be safe.

Wrong. I was being followed. I walked faster, the man in the hoodie behind me walked faster. He matched my pace. I needed to find someone quick. The shops were right ahead. And of course, they were all closed or being closed. No one was out. Just when I lost all hope, I saw someone walking out. I bolted over to them and quietly asked if they would help me. My adrenaline didn't even give me time to realize this was coffee boy.

"Please please help this guys been following me and I still have a few blocks till I get to my apartment please." I said in a whisper, many voice cracks. I think I'm crying?

"Yes of course. Are you okay?"

"Yeah I'm fine I just don't want to be kidnapped thank you so much."

We continued to walk in silence. Conversation here and there. We established we both live in the same complex. When I liked behind me the man was gone.

"He's gone. Thank you."

"Of course. Hey, you seem so familiar? Do you work at that corner coffee shop?"

"Yeah I do, actually. That's where I recognize you. You come in there with your friend."

"That's my sister Kalynn."

"She's pretty"

"Yeah she forced me to pick up the ice cream alone so she could continue playing Minecraft. I'm glad I did though." He said as we walked to my door.

"Thank you so much."

"Of course. Goodnight."

"Goodnight"

I quietly shut my door. It's been a long day.
