She dropped herself on her bed as she yawned tiredly. She kicked her shoes off her feet while simultaneously taking her bra off. She laid there for a few seconds when she suddenly started thinking, over-thinking maybe but to stop felt impossible to her. This was always the case, she thought about random things and longed to know the meaning of everything so how could she ever be thoughtless. She was always reading and interested in many different topics but her interests left as quickly as they came. She felt a sudden twinge in her leg and winced in pain. Her day job as a waitress in a shitty, two star restaurant, with the shitty boss had just ended and she had about two hours before she had to leave for her night job as a bartender in a shitty bar which was an hour an a half away from where she lived.

She closed her eyes and took three deep breaths. In the first breath, she reminded herself why she was doing it. In the second breath, she reminded herself that she could do it and in the third breath she reminded herself that she had everything she needed to do it within her. She had learned that trick from her mother for when she felt overwhelmed or stressed.

She walked the two feet from her bed to her closet and got her clothes out and put them on the bed. She then headed to the stream of water and winced at the coldness. She waited a few seconds in hopes that it would warm up but with no such luck, she stepped under the water and let the iciness run through her entire body. The cold felt surprisingly good on her skin and for what felt like 20 seconds, she forgot that she was stressed. She closed her eyes and sunk into the feeling, imagining what she hoped her new life would be like when she finally did it. She dreamt of the things that she'd always wanted as she'd done a thousand times prior and before long, like she always did, she fell into a state of bliss and time faded into nothing.

Without notice however, the stream from the shower came to an abrupt stop and she cursed in frustration at her landlord who promised weekly to fix the pipes. She begrudgingly got out of the bathroom and walked to her nightstand and checked her phone. "Fuck !" she cursed as she saw that she was going to be late for her shift at the bar if she didn't leave in ten minutes.

She threw on her jeans and her black "Mikey's Pub" T-shirt that her boss insisted was their uniform. She put her favorite pair of shoes on, threw her hair into a ponytail, grabbed her jacket and bag and left.

She looked at the time on her phone to see 8:23 as the cold night air hit her arms and the goosebumps on her skin appeared. She walked to the stop and sat on the bench waiting for the bus to arrive.

After what felt like ten years, the bus pulled up and she hopped on. The bus was half full with commuters who looked like they were on their way home from work. She paid no mind to them but instead made her way to the second seat on the bus and sat down and placed her headphones in her ears and somehow lulled off into a sleep.

She awoke, startled to somebody yelling "Hey, you, Wake Up", it was the bus driver. "I think we've reached your stop." he said. She gave him a grateful smile and muttered her thanks as she got off the bus.

She checked the time on her phone again to see that it was 9:30. She cursed and picked up her pace down the street, she made her way to the building and started descending the spiral of stairs that lead to what everyone passionately calls the "Basement."

She made her way through the small room and through the door that said "staff". As she grabbed her apron, she heard a sharp, stern voice say "You're late". She turned around to find it was her boss Aaron. "I know,I was just running a little late today, I'm sorry" she replied. "I'm not here for excuses, if you can't be here on time, I will find somebody who can. You are to be here at 9 and no later" he said in his low, monotone voice. He then turned sharply and proceeded to his office without another word.

She sighed as she got her cleaning supplies out of the closet and started on the bar, she had just finish mopping the floors and started overturning the chairs when she head footsteps enter the bar. "We open at 10 man" she said. "Come on, can't you make an exception" she heard him reply in what you could call a sultry tone. "Look, I said we open at t-." she trailed off as she turned around and looked at him.

The odd stranger had piercing brown eyes and black curly hair. He was dressed in black jeans and an Adidas jacket with a hood. She looked at the anchor shaped clock on the wall an d saw that it was 9:50, she sighed resignedly and walked over to the bar counter, motioning him to follow. He took a seat on one of the stools and ordered a Gin and Tonic. She raised an eyebrow and asked "Hard day?". He gave a small laugh and the small dimple he had on his cheek showed. "You have no idea."

She made his drink and handed it to him and he gave her a thankful smile, she couldn't help but look into his eyes that looked like they held a constellation. She felt her pulse quicken and her heart jump and all she could think was "Oh No, This feels like trouble."
