That same night, after a day of scrolling through his phone, Jimin wheels himself into the kitchen. He hopes to apologise to Hoseok for his behaviour that morning before his food supply is cut off, but Jin is by the stove alone. Jimin watches him silently, surprised that he is able to cook so efficiently in a foreign kitchen. A delicious aroma wafts from the stove, however Jimin is still deciding whether or not he should disturb the chef.
"Hey, Jimin." Jin murmurs without turning from the food.
"How did you know it was me?"
"I could feel the room grow cold and a dark aura glaring at me from the doorway... it was either you, or the grim reaper so... lucky guess?"
Jimin huffs dramatically before pushing further into the kitchen.
"I'm going to watch you."
"What, scared I'm going to poison the food?"
Jimin does not answer, just watching the older man's broad back and the slight sway of his hips as he drifts in and out of humming a strange tune.
Jin stops humming to hit the side of the small pot with his chopsticks. Jimin watches him silently sift through the pot before placing some of the food within his mouth and moaning gently. Jin digs in again before turning to him, a second hand cupped beneath the meat hanging from the chopsticks.
Jimin almost jumps with the speed that Jin approaches him, forcing himself not to cower. Surely Jin would not attack a sweet, defenceless person in a wheelchair?
Glancing up at Jin curiously, he only raises a brow, not understanding why Jin is holding out the food to his face.
"Don't be silly, open your mouth."
Jimin obediently opens his mouth, wincing as the hot meat burns his tongue, but he still chews it thoroughly. He smiles at the taste.
"It's delicious, right?" Jimin nods slowly, hoping Jin would give him some more.
Jin laughs, "Of course, everything I cook reflects my devastatingly good looks."
Namjoon groans as he enters the kitchen area.
"Honestly, you have not changed at all. You even look the same as you did back then."
"Handsome?" Jimin snorts.
"I think he was going for pathetic."
Jin and Namjoon ignore the comment, laughing at each other.
"Hello, everyone!" Hoseok exclaims as he joins everyone else in the room. Jimin goes to the table, waiting for the others to join him. Namjoon sets the table again, and Hoseok approaches Jin dishing out the food, stealing a few bites from the various dishes as Jin slaps his arm each time with a laugh.
Jimin watches as the two try balancing the food to the table, laughing as they go. Namjoon, who sits beside him, smiles as they approach the table and neatly place the dishes in the center. Jin nudges one dish, the dish from earlier, closer to Jimin before sitting.
Looking around the table, Jimin cannot remember the last time he had seen Hoseok and Namjoon this happy since the accident. The three converse about what they had spent the day doing, Jin rambling about memorising the layout of the kitchen and unpacking his bags. It does not take long for Jimin to tune out and just watch the happy setting before him, finding it easier to disconnect from the conversation rather than force himself to small talk.
