Maci was very frightened that she had been left alone, and now someone was trying to break into her house! “POLICE WERE COMING IN!” an officer shouted from the outside of the door. Now Maci was even more scared. A New York Police Officer walked up to Maci. “
What’s going on tonight ma’am?”
“Someone busted the window. I think that they are trying to get me, but I have nothing for them!”
“When did you last see your grandma?”
“Last night she came into my room and told me she was staying with me while my parents went to…”
“Went where ma’am?”
“I’m not sure. She never mentioned where they were heading too.”
“It’s the state law that we have to take you in with us to the station, you’re in no trouble, we just want to make sure your safe.” Maci began to cry.
“It’s okay sweetheart. I’ll be home soon..” She heard a voice in her head.
She began to cry harder. The officer looked at her and he just stood very still.
Then he spoke, “Maci, I have news about your parents.”
“What? What is it? Did you-“
“No, Maci, your mom is in the hospital, and your dad didn’t make it. I’m sorry”
“What? How? Why? What happened?”
“They were in a car accident about 4am.”
Maci began to cry even harder. It’s their anniversary and something this awful happened. Maci began to feel very weak, and had some nausea.
