you were late. or at least you were gonna be late if the barista at dunkin didn't hurry up and give you your drinks and donuts. today you started your new job as assistant coach for a little league team in town.

you hadn't met the head coach in person yet, never even seen his face. you only talked through text or a phone call, so being late your first day isn't a good look.

"thank you!" you grabbed the drinks and multiple boxes of donuts quickly exiting the restaurant and to your car. throwing your wallet and phone to the passengers side of the car, you quickly put the keys into the ignition all while setting the boxes of donuts and drinks on the passenger seat.

luckily for you, the baseball field wasn't that far from the dunkin donuts you chose to go to. you didn't even bother to turn on any music as you were in a rush.

once you got there, you grabbed the boxes and drinks along with your phone and wallet closing the car door with your foot. you practically sprinted to field 2 almost making it until...

"jesus christ!! watch where you're walking!" you shouted at the teen who bumped into you, luckily you had a tight grip on everything except your phone causing it to fall with a loud thud.

the boy quickly turned around and was about to say something but stopped, you looked up at him waiting for his reply before your mouth slightly dropped.

it's like time had stopped. all your frustration went out the park as you looked into his light brown orbs, everything around you sorta stopped.

you didn't believe in love at first sight, at all, so whatever you were feeling at this exact moment in time, you were going to come up with a logical explanation, you always do.

but he was gorgeous, and not just on the outside, you felt like he was on the inside also. something was pulling you towards him, like he was your other missing piece. a magnet, perhaps.

he was tall, had curly/wavy messy hair which stuck to his forehead a bit. you notice the little nose ring that shined a certain way when he turned his head, the sun hitting it just right. you saw the silver chain peeking out of his jersey, making you smirk a bit.

you felt connected to him, maybe this didn't have a logical explanation. maybe the only explanation was, in fact, love at first sight.

"uh, i-i'm sorry. i should've turned around." the boy apologized, holding out his hand.

"no, it's ok. i shouldn't be running." she took his hand giving it a firm light shake. she bent down to pick up her phone and mumbled a curse word.

"omg, i'm sorry. did i do that? i'll pay for it." he apologized again looking at your now cracked phone screen.

"no it's fine, i have insurance. it's not a big deal." you smiled lightly, it made him melt, but you didn't know that. usually you would be going off, and would make him pay for it, but there was just something about him that made you a lot nicer to him in this situation.

"are you sure? because  i feel terrible." he asked, you nodded your head before stuffing the aforementioned object into your back pocket.

"well, i'm gonna be late. so uh... sorry, again." you looked into his eyes, almost getting lost in them. he nodded before smiling again, also apologizing for the third time in the last 5 minutes.

you continue to walk to the field, a slight ping in your chest as you watched him walk away from your peripheral.

"damn, i didn't even get his name."

"shit, i forgot to ask her name."

you shrugged and walked onto the babe ruth field.

"ew, that was so cliché." you chuckled, but deep down, something told you that it wouldn't be the last time seeing him.
