Jinn literally means Unseen, We can't see the Jinn and they have some difference between Human and Jinn. For Example, they have the power to fly, shape-shift into mostly Animals like Cats, Dogs, Bird etc. and it's their choice if they should show it to humans or not.

The world of the Unseen, in the unseen and the unseen we only know through the Qur'an and the Sunnah, no person can know the unseen in its entirety except through the Qur'an and Sunnah. and we have  Allah (Subhana Wa Ta'ala) who has been very merciful to us to tell us what is happening in the unseen, belief in the unseen is a very fundamental characteristic of a Muslim. and that's why at the very beginning of the Qur'an In Surah (Chapter) Al Baqarah (The Cow) and Just after Surah Fatiha (The Opening) Allah (Subhana Wa Ta'ala) describes the successful people, He says, This is the Book about which there is no doubt, A guidance for those of Allah - Who Believe in the Unseen, Establish Prayer, and spend out of what we have provided for them, - Surah Baqarah Verse 22-23 in a simple word: This is the Book in which there is no doubt, A guidance for those who fear Allah, Those people are those who have believe in the unseen, There is no doubt about Qur'an and every information that exists in the Quran. It is guidance to those that are pious and to those who have consciousness of Allah and those who believe in the unseen. Part of believing in Allah (Subhana Wa Ta'ala) is believing in everything he has said in the Qur'an. Now the unseen is a very very general word and it covers a lot of things. And the very first thing belief in the unseen covers for a Muslim is a belief in Allah (Subhana Wa Ta'ala) That is the Biggest  belief that we have and it overrides everything else in the unseen world And in the seen world. Likewise, if you look at the pillars of Imaan (Faith) belief for a Muslim that you believe in Allah (Subhana Wa Ta'ala) and that you believe in the Angels (We can't see the Angels btw) and Currently Scientific thought doesn't hold the existence of the Angels to be true. And this is a matter of the unseen and A matter in which we believe in firmly, we believe in these creatures which are Angels that we can't see, we believe in Gabriel, Israfil, Mikael and Malak al Maut (Angel of death) so we believe in the Angels and we also believe in the day of resurrection and our belief in the last day is from our belief in the unseen. That we will be resurrected after we die. also part of our belief in the unseen are the Jinns and there is a Surah (Chapter) in the Qur'an which is called Surah Jinn (Chapter of the 'The Jinn'), we believe the word Jinn in Arabic comes from a root word J N N  which means Something that is Hidden or something that is concealed from the eyes. And it is an entity that is completely hidden from the eyes of men, we do not see them and they are in a world that is beyond our physical, world that we inhabit. We're both going to co-exist in this world But they're going to be able to see us But we don't see them. What does Allah tell us about the Jinn? what does our Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) tell us about the Jinn of the things we know about the Jinn? is that they were created before men, Muhammad (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) He has told us that the Angels they have created from Light. And the Jinn have been created from the fire and there are several ayats (Verses) in the Qur'an that talk about the fact they've been created from fire, Our essence comes from clay from water and other elements. We've got a heavy material side to us and they've got a very light side to them, their essence is that since they are of fire they are able to fly, they are able to move around much more easily than ourselves. The Qur'an is very explicit that before we existed the Jinn existed. Before Allah created Prophet Adam (peace be upon him) He had created the Jinn and Allah (Subhana Wa Ta'ala) says in the Qur'an "We created man from a type of hard clay rock that had become rock solid that you could know on it and it would reverberate and the Jann (the Plural of Jinn is Jann) we had created before that from a fire that is smokeless" Samum has been understood in two different ways, one meaning is that Samum is a smokeless fire. it is a fire that is raw heat without any smoke and that is valid because the Jinn don't have smoke and they are created from a fire that doesn't have, we don't see the smoke like we don't see ashes coming down, right, so the jinn have been created from smokeless fire, Ibn Abbas (radi Allahu anhu) commented that the corner of the flames that you have all the different colors the red, green, blue, orange and the yellow it has all of these bizarre colors like very interesting colors, Ibn Abbas said, that is what they were created from the very ending of the fire and the Jinn are a type created being. Just like Allah (Subhana Wa Ta'ala) has created us and Allah (Subhana Wa Ta'ala) has created the Animals, Birds, Fish so Allah (Subhana Wa Ta'ala) has created another type of being which are called the Jinn and Something that is very peculiar or very special about this particular. Type of creation, as opposed to all of the other Animals, is that like Human beings, The Jinn is an intelligent form of life so they are not like wild animals, they have no intellects, they have intellects and They have free will, The Jinns they eat and drink and they get married, have children like us. There is no difference so they are very similar to Human beings in many different ways. How did Allah (Subhana Wa Ta'ala) create them from the flame? How did that flame form an intelligent being? Allah (Subhana Wa Ta'ala) knows best!
