"Gemma, come here, look what I found!", yelled John
Let me take you back to the beginning of the story. Meet John; he is a very sneaky boy, who loves exploring, but many of his educators dislike his actions. You could describe him as a bit naughty and often does things without permission. Gemma on the other hand is the complete opposite. She is a polite and kind person, who loves adventures and mysteries and often says that there's always something new to learn at school.
This story takes place in Mr. Wilson's garden. Although the two were classmates, Gemma and John did not like each other very much. John always thought of Gemma as a goody-two shoes, whilst Gemma thought of John as a mischievous trouble maker. It was an unlucky day for both of them as they were partnered up for their 6th grade history project.Their assignment was to interview an elderly person in the community, asking him/her about their childhood during Apartheid, as they were learning about that topic in class. John and Gemma certainly did not like the fact that they were partners, and tried their best convincing their teacher; Mr Rogers to partner them up with different people. Unfortunately, Mr Rogers did not like people questioning his decisions, therefore was not interested in hearing their reasons. Poor Gemma and John just had to deal with it!
The two then eventually decided to work together, brainstorming ideas for their project. They both lived in the same community, and knew exactly which elderly person to interview. They chose Mr Wilson, and sat down in his garden. Gemma felt very freaked out and uncomfortable, whilst John was very interested and curious as the garden appeared very dull and spooky. Mr Wilson gave off the impression of a very moody and unfriendly person who did not like visitors, but was strangely willing to help them out. He explained to them that he does not like people looking around in his home. Upon hearing this, the two felt very anxious. It seemed that maybe Mr Wilson was hiding something very valuable and mysterious. As the seconds slowly turned to minutes, a few questions had been answered. Mr Wilson then offered them some tea. They hesitantly nodded yes as they did not want to be rude, so Mr Wilson got up and strolled towards the kitchen. Boredom started hitting John in the face, and so being the very sneaky John, he got up from his chair and started snooping around in the garden. Gemma yelled after him, but John ignored her as he carried on sneaking around. Gemma eventually became so frustratd that she got up and followed him.
