It was another day in Western High. Nothing new. Watching the birds feed their babies and the babies soon leaving the nest. It was a hot day...so hot that my ass stuck to the chair as i was trying to stand up and sing the pledge of allegiance. It was a tradition all over America.

I never really much liked it but I had no choice but to sing this song. I was ready to put my hand over my heart before hearing my teachers voice.

"Ms Ross, stand for the pledge of allegiance"

Suddenly, A girl with curly hair and brown eyes that matched her pretty dark skin, stayed in her seat.

"We're not doing this again Ms Ross, Stand or you're going to the office"

This mysterious girl got up and went to the office herself, like she could predict what Mrs Wells would say next.

I leaned over to my friend, Britney, "Brit, Who's the new girl?"

"Her names Magnolia Ross. She refused to stand for the flag yesterday and Mrs Wells is damn near ready to throw in the towel" her green eyes glimmered before giggling a bit.

This is what I get for having food poisoning yesterday. I wonder if she has any friends already. I didn't know why...But I wanted to be this new girls friend.

As much as I wanted to be like Magnolia and refuse to stand, my parents have spent so much money to put me in this charter school. I didn't want to embarrass them or disappoint them at all.

Finally, the bell had rung. Today was a half day so thank the lord for that. Just had lunch and two more classes and then.. freedom!!

I carried my books on my back and headed to lunch with Brittany and her friends. I wasn't ever a social butterfly like Brit, but she took it easy on me and decided to hang out with me.

While I was walking to the lunchroom, I seen the girl from first period, in the principals office. She was leaving the room and heading to the bathroom. Seem like she was upset.
