With a sigh, Jin lights up what seems to be his fifth cigarette that afternoon. His hand brushing his hair back as he looked over the notes and photographs, the faint ringing of phones going off outside his office in the deputy department and the faint talking from other detectives slightly comforting him as he overlooked the pictures and re-read the notes. His pinboard being organized messily, messy handwriting on cut half note cards of suspected suspects along with their pictures. Messy "What if?" note cards pinned loosely.
"The victim's body was found by a passer who was taking out their trash, finding the body thrown behind the dumpster. The body was found with their boxers and shirt ripped, the victim being a male, seems to be in their 20's. Hasn't been identified yet"
Putting down the yellow paper Seokjin grabs one of the photographs that were taken in the crime scene, seeing as the pavement had been stained by the victim's blood meaning the victim wasn't entirely dead when thrown behind the dumpster. Giving him a lead that the victim died due to blood loss and could've been saved if the passer came on time then the time they found the body. The body was found at 1:40 am. Scattering the pictures around on his desk, Jin inspected them, they were all zoomed-in specific body parts, right arm, left arm, left leg, right leg, etc. Each body part having either deeps cuts or vibrant bruises, giving off that the victim was fighting back and being tortured.
puffing out smoke jin grabbed his pen and a notecard, writing; "photos show the victim was tortured and was fighting back." Standing up from his chair he walks to his pinboard, pinning the note card next to another one that said; "Died due to loss of blood."
"It stinks in here."
"yeah?" Jin sighs turning around from the pinboard to the frame of his door, seeing his boss lean against it. "Then why come in?"
"I need to see how my favorite detective is doing."
Jin scoffed moving to sit on his chair, moving it to face his door frame and his boss, arms crossed as he leaned back on his chair. "your favorite detective is doing fine. Thanks for asking."
"Not from the complaints of the others you aren't." His boss spoke out moving himself from leaning on the door frame to walking inside Jin's office.
Jin's eyes moving to his boss name tag that was clipped onto the side of his stripped tucked in shirt. Min Yoongi and a picture of him with fading mint hair inside the plastic. His boss moving to stand in front of his pinboard his hands behind his back and clasped together as his eyes trail along the messy pinboard.
"New case?"
"Yup, and it seems to be connected with the other murderer cases," Jin states as he burns out his cigarette in his ashtray on his desk.
"Ah, so it seems we have a serial killer on our hands?"
Jin nods, "the only thing that connects them is the three scratches on their sides."
"Three scratches on their sides? ah, it seems with each new serial killer they get creative and create their symbol or mark on their victims." Yoongi sighs as he takes a sip of his coffee, "But don't you think the scratches could be a coincidence?"
Jin nodded as he started cleaning up, putting the photographs in the beige folder, "I did think of it, but not all victims have three, the first victim had one, the second victim had two and now this one has three."
"Ah, so they are counting their victims.", Yoongi's eyes scanned throughout the pinboard looking at the clues and possible leads. "This victim isn't identified?"
Jin shook his head, "No, actually the victim's face has too many cuts and some skin was taken off to be identified."
"People are sick in the head." Yoongi sighs shaking his head as he took another sip from his coffee.
jin nods as he let out a small sigh, "yup" putting all the notes together and putting them inside another beige folder, piling both folders together and putting it inside his suitcase. Jin has been in his office since five in the morning and now it's eight in the night. He wanted to go home and eat, he was too caught up on the crime to take a break and have lunch.
"have the day off tomorrow Seokjin," Yoongi mumbled as he started walking out of the other's office.
"But sir I have to solve this case-" Jin eyes widen when he heard his boss telling him to have the day off.
"Don't worry about it, Hoseok-ah and Namjoon are working with the other two cases that are connected so maybe they can get a lead." Yoongi left with that being said leaving Jin alone in his office again.
Jin sighs as he closes his suitcase and started walking out of his office, turning off his lights before closing his door bowing lightly as he greeted his goodbyes to those that were still in the department. The cold air hitting him once he steps outside, the sound of the crickets and the passing cars comforting him. Taking a deep breath and exhaling before walking towards his car, his body feeling stiff after sitting down for sixteen hours and the rare occasion of standing up to pin something on his pinboard.
The driving back home wasn't so long as his home was close to the department, only passing two lights and a turn to the left. Parking outside his home turning off his car, leaning back on his seat as he looked ahead pushing his hair back. "have the day off tomorrow."how the fuck am I supposed to take the day off when I want to solve the murder and not have more killed?
The last words his boss told him pissed him off, hitting his steering wheel over the words he was told. Seokjin didn't want to take the day off, he wanted to solve the murder not take a day off and let his partners solve them. Sighing, Jin grabbed his box of cigarettes from the pocket inside his sweater grabbing his lighter as well and placing one in between his lips lighting it, and getting out of his car. Grabbing his suitcase from the passenger side and locking his car after closing the passenger side door, removing the cigarette from his lips to blow out smoke.
"You're home!" Jungkook jumped up, arms flying up as he saw Jin enter the house, closing the door by kicking it lightly. "oh, but you're in a mood, you're smoking." Jungkook crossed his arms.
"Don't give me an attitude tonight kid," Jin mumbled dropping his suitcase in the hallway and taking off his shoes walking towards the living room with his hands in his pockets. "It's been a hell of a day and I out of a sudden got the day off tomorrow."
"isn't.. isn't that a good thing?" Jungkook asked following behind the older, arms behind his back and head tilted. "When I was...alive.. usually getting a day off was a good thing."
"Yeah, it is unless you're a fucking detective and you are trying to solve a murder." Jin sighs ruffling his hair as he sat down on the couch.
"Maybe you need it," Jungkook spoke softly standing in front of Jin. "You've been smoking too much and it's concerning me, you know smoking causes lung cancer and I know I don't know you a lot but I don't want you to get lung cancer!"
Jin sighs, blowing out smoke in front of Jungkooks face, "I'm an adult, I am 27 years old, my health shouldn't be your concern. it's mine."
Jungkook coughs and wipes away the smoke from his face, "And because of that, you might die soon! I'm allowed to be concerned it's my rights!"
Jin sighs closing his eyes. "I want you out of my sight when I open my eyes, I'm counting to five."
Jungkook sighs as he hears Jin starting to count, "you're a real pain in the ass." huffing as he started walking back to their shared room.
Jin rolled his eyes when he opened them, taking the cigarette out of his lips, "lung cancer my fucking ass" he mumbles, blowing out smoke as he talked to himself.
