It was one of the largest serial murder cases in U.S. history. Three consecutive years, 32 victims, and mostly young men and women . Most of them were either single parent family or an abusive home. Nearly all of them were beaten, shot in the middle of the head and dumped in a remote area. Thousands of leads were investigated. Hundreds of suspects interrogated.
Although everyone were aware of the killings, noone changed their daily lives it was like he did not exist.
One suspect stood out- Walter J.W. Stevenson. Mr.Stevenson was a well known and respected man, he was everyone young woman dream husband but Mr.Stevenson was also diagnosed with schizophrenia, a mental disorder that makes it hard to tell the difference between what is real and not real. This disorder is a complex illness; mental health experts are not sure what causes it. Having this disorder Mr.Stevenson found it extremely difficult to sleep at night; he percieve the everyone would try to "kill" him.
Every night he would watch his prey like a beast and attack. He made the village terrified of him; fortunately for him noone knew who He was. He was the horrid ghost of the night. He was the 'The Verlassen Killer'.
