It had been a long day for Peggy, but a successful one. She had been on the trail of one of the deadliest drug dealers of the East Coast and after over two months of planning, it finally paid off. The sting was an overwhelming success and they were able to bust not only him, but his colleagues, the money, and the drugs as well. Overall, it was a fantastic day to which Peggy ended it by giving herself the weekend off.

Once home, Peggy kicked off her shoes, turned on some music, poured herself a glass of wine, and celebrated. But her celebration was cut short when a sudden chill filled the room. Peggy stopped in her tracks. Was it because the back doors were open to let in the cool breeze from outside or something different? Her eyes darted to the French doors and noticed that the curtains refused to move, meaning that something else had caused the sudden change in temperature. A thought sprung into her mind that caused her heart to beat a little faster. Was it? Could it be? After all this time? Surely she was just imagining it. But she couldn't deny the familiar feeling that had just flooded over her like a wave crawling up the sandy beach.

Her curiosity now peaked, Peggy put down her glass of wine and padded off down the hallway in search for what had caused the chill. Not finding anything different or out of place downstairs, she made her way upstairs where it became increasingly colder. Her heart skipped a beat as she quickened her pace. Upon making it to her room, her hand carefully reached out and touched the door handle. It was cold to the touch as she turned the knob and opened the door. Standing in the middle of the room with a book in his hand was someone she hadn't seen in a very long time. She stood speechless in the doorway for a moment before speaking.

Loki? Is...is it really you? ❞ She said quietly, slowly making her way across the room to where he stood.

❝ I see you've missed me. ❞ He replied, his voice dripping with amusement as he arched his brow, revealing the book that he was reading was, in fact, her journal.

❝ Yes, it's you. Only you would go through my journal upon your return. ❞ Peg rolled her eyes. ❝ Where in the hell have you been hiding these last few months? I looked everywhere for you, I thought you were dead! ❞ She exclaimed, slapping him on the arm.

Loki gazed back at her in pure shock that someone had dared to hit him in such a way. ❝ How dare you touch me like that! I am a God, I don't- ❞

❝ Oh do save the temper tantrum until later, they always give me a raving headache. You haven't answered my questions, where have you been? ❞

❝ Why? Did you miss me? Did you yearn for me? Did I invade your dreams? ❞ He smirked playfully, closing the book and placing it behind his back as he leaned forward to get a closer look at Peggy.

❝ Me? Miss you? Of course not, I was just...curious is all. ❞

❝ That's not what I've read in your journal. You said you were worried about me and that you searched high and low for me while I was away, even visiting Asgard. How thoughtful of you. ❞

❝ Those are my private thoughts, Loki, now give it back. ❞ She grunted, trying in vain to get back her personal property.

❝ Not until you tell me you missed me. And I want it to be sincere and extremely heartfelt. ❞

❝ Not until you tell me where you've been these past three months. ❞

❝ Then it looks like you'll never get your precious journal back. What a pity...for you that is. ❞ Loki smiled smugly as he waved the book in front of her.

❝ Sometimes you can be the most irritating man on Earth, you know that? ❞ Peggy rolled her eyes and shook her head with a sigh. She would really have to find a better place to hide that damn journal. The man was infuriating, but she couldn't help but be glad to see his smug face after all this time.
