The click of her footsteps along the floor echoed down the hall. She sighed in annoyance at the sounds as she made her way to her Father's study. Elizabeth had never really liked the palace she grew up in. Everything was made of stone, so empty and cold. She would much rather be at the Tavern with her Captain at the moment but she knew it was her duty to help run the Kingdom.
Elizabeth would always help her Father handle the paperwork that had Piled up over the day before. The King always had Sunday off to relax and unwind in order to help reduce the stress that came with running a growing kingdom. Since Elizabeth had Sunday and Monday off, she would spend the first day hanging out with friends and family and the second day helping her Father.
She looked up at the big oak door with a small smile. Knock Knock "Father! I'm here." She heard a shuffling of papers and a muted come in before she pushed the door open. Her dad sure enough was behind his desk already hard at work. He set down his papers and stood up.
"Ah my sweet little angel! How was your day off?" He walked over to meet her half way giving her a giant bear hug and a kiss on the head.
"It was great! Me and Diane went out into town for lunch at the new cafe that opened up last month."
"Oh! That's good to hear. It's nice knowing that the small businesses are starting to come back after the war." Her dad visible perked up upon hearing this. as he sat back down at his desk and began handing Elizabeth her papers for the day.
"Dad~ that wasn't the point of that story!" She giggled and started thumbing through the papers in her hands, "Although you are right. Small business seemed to be popping up everywhere now that people are back from the fighting and all the reconstruction has been finished."
"Yes I surprised we were able to finish so quickly. Your friends definitely help us quite a bit."
Elizabeth nodded and walk over to her own desk. It was much smaller than her father's giant wooden one but it was all she needed considering she only helped out once a week. Her father had suggested she get a office next door but she preferred being with him than by herself.
