Before I start this chapter, I just want to say that I am writing this at 4 AM, so I'm a little tired. Please just bear with me! I hope you enjoy it, love you all!-Luke's POV-
I couldn't imagine what high school would be like if you had asked me in 8th grade. But now that I'm almost done with my Senior year, High School isn't as scary as I thought it would be. Sure there was drama, and work, and a bunch of shit, but it all worked out in the end. Now there's only 2 days left until graduation, and I'm not sure if I'm excited or scared for what awaits me in the future...
This year I won't fuck up my grades, and I'll at least try. It is my last year after all. And I would still love to go to college at some point, so fucking up my GPA won't help! I feel a jab on the right side of my ribs. I quickly snap back to reality and turn to my friend Xavier. "What was that for?" I asked, a hint of irritation in my voice.
"Shit man, you were off in la-la land, and I was trying to ask you a question!" Xavier let out a low chuckle as he flung his body up onto the ledge, sitting down and patting the spot next to him, a gesture that I should follow suit. I rolled my eyes before hoisting myself up and letting in some fresh air with a deep breath.
"What was your question man?" I say down on the cold, hard surface, and took out my phone to look at the time. Damn, 7:30 already? I need to be home soon. Mom's going to be pissed! I slid my phone back into my pocket as I heard Xavier sigh.
"Shit man, this is our last year of school, then what?" He sighed, scratching his shoulder, something he did frequently when he became lost in thought. He let out a small sigh as his eyes locked onto the ground, unmoving. I poked his shoulder as he jumped.
Xavier snapped his gaze towards me, his eyes somber. "Sorry dude. I was just... I dunno." He cleared his throat, his eyes immediately lighting back up. "Anyways, what were you going to do tomorrow? Y'know, it being our last day of Summer vacation?" I must have looked confused, because not even three seconds later- "I was just wondering if you wanted to hang out or some shit." Xavier put his hands in his hoodie. It is pretty chilly.
The September air had a gentle, cool breeze, and even I was starting to get cold. "I uh. Yeah sure. Otherwise, I would probably just stay inside and play video games." I chuckle, letting out a slight yawn. "Anyways dude, I gotta get going. My mom is going to be pissed if I get home too late and miss dinner!"
"Alright man, text me later! Maybe we could play some COD later?" I murmured an agreement as I watched Xavier jump down from the small ledge. I watched him as he hopped on his bike, waved, and started pedaling away.
Shit Luke, don't piss your mom off more than she already is. I hopped down as I quickly flung my leg over my bike and pushed off, going as fast as I could. I didn't even think of looking at the road to see if there were cars coming, I just pedaled faster.
I was about a block from my house when I ran over a branch in the road that I hadn't seen. My front wheel immediately stopped, causing me to be thrown off onto the cement. "Damn it" I cursed under my breath when I sat up. My leg stung and I knew it had gotten scraped up. "Shit."
Slowly standing up, I slowly walked over to my bike, bending down to pick it up. I had just gotten myself back onto my bike when I heard my phone ringing. Mom. I rolled my eyes as I clicked the answer button. "Yeah, mom?" My voice sounded more irritated than I had meant it to be, I was just still agitated from the fall. I really gotta pay attention!
"Where the hell are you, Lucas? Your food is getting cold!" Her voice was slightly distorted coming through my phone. I really need to get a new one...
