It was around noon when Denki Kaminari left UA. It was his day to go shopping for the class groceries and he needed to make sure he didn't mess up. The class already thought he was an idiot, and didn't want to send him out today. He need to prove that he was actually a smart and capable person.

The first place he had to stop was AEON to get some food. He never really liked this store as he had a track record of getting in trouble here, but despite this he entered the store hoping for the best.

He was walking through the frozen food section, he needed yogurt so they could make smoothies in the morning. As he got further down the aisle, reviewing his list, he noticed a boy out of the corner of his eye. The young child was sitting in between to of the shelves trembling. His face was tear stained and his eyes bloodshot.
"Excuse me kid, are you okay?" Kaminari asked, slightly concerned for the child's well being.
"I want my m-mother!" The child spoke.
Kaminari was about to ask the boy if wanted help finding her, when he realized, the boy was speaking English.
Kaminari was actually a native English speaker, as he had moved to Japan when he was around 9 years old.
"Your not from here," Kaminari said softly, squatting down to the boys height, "are you?"
"N-no, my mother and I are here on a vacation." The boy said as he quickly wiped his face and replaced his once sad expression with a new one. He was trying to act tough, and this made Kaminari chuckle. This kid really reminded him of himself when he was younger.
"Here kid, c'mere," Kaminari said, gesturing the kid in for a hug, "It's okay to feel sad."
The kid slid out from his hiding place into the electric users arms, tightly grabbing the back of his shirt.
"I know that, I just didn't want you to worry."
The weight of the kids words laid heavy on Kaminaris chest, as he knew exactly how this kid felt. He himself had a habit of hiding his own feelings, just so others wouldn't fuss or worry over him.
"If you don't tell people what's wrong they can't help you kid." Denki said, now tears rimming his eyes.
"Thanks mr." the kid said pulling out of the hug.
Just as Kaminari stood up to lead the kid to the front desk, he heard a gasp as the sound of heels came from behind.
"OHH YOU FOUND HIM! YOU FOUND MY LITTLE BOY!" Said the American women, trying to form little Japanese as she embraced the boy.
"It's okay ma'am, I speak English." Kaminari said as he reassured the women he didn't want payment.

Apparently the kid had run off to look at some desserts and the mom didn't notice, he ended up getting left behind as the mother tried to check out, only to realize her son was missing.
Kaminari laughed at the story as he checked out. He had a similar experience when he had first come to Japan, a wave of nostalgia washed over him.

The next stop for shopping was Daikoku Drug. Here he was instructed to by shampoo, conditioner, and other various toiletries.
As he entered the store he noticed is was unusually empty. Only a few people were in, one girl in the cards section, and four guys spread out across the store. The guys seemed kind of sketch so Kaminari decided he would just get in and get out, minding his own business.
He had his fair share of run ins like guys like this, so the hero course student knew that it was best to keep your head down and not attract attention to yourself. That is what he intended to do, until he heard a chilling shriek from the cards aisle.
At first he was gonna wait for the cashier to check it out, but the shrieks got louder and more frequent, and the register lady has her headphones on.
Kaminari sighed as he headed towards the commotion, knowing that as a hero course student it was his job to check out the noise.
As he turned down the aisle he saw something horrifying.
The were two men pinning the women against the wall as the other two rummaged through her bags. The twin men holding the women were whispering disgusting things while touching he inappropriately.
Denki hesitated at first, not knowing what he should do, but through it best to jump in before things escalated.
"HEY GET OFF OF HER!" He said as he sparked some electricity. He was hoping he wouldn't actually have to fight, and that he could just scare them off, but of course this wasn't the case.
"Oh so the knock-off Pikachu wants to pay ey?" One of the men said while pulling out a blade, "well then, let's play."
The man charged at Kaminari, fully prepared to kill him. Kaminari just barley ducked out of the way, knife grazing his cheek.
The man who had lunged at him was now head first in a freezer, multiple ice cream containers litter his body and the floor.
"I guess you needed a snack." Kami mumbled, prepared to take on the next guy. Lucky for him there wasn't a next guy. The other three men must have scattered while I was distracted with the big one.
I walked down the aisle towards the women, who at this point was trembling. I picked up her purse on the way and sat I front of her, making sure I wasn't to close to her.
"Are you okay ma'am?" I said as I held out her purse.
She took it from me and proceeded to do a couple of weird hand symbols. It took me a second to realize, but she was doing sign language.
"Oh I see, I was asking if you were okay." Kaminari signed back. He has a deaf uncle so when he was little he decided to take up sign language. He remembered his parents always telling him it would be useful for him as a hero, he never expected it to actually come in handy but here he was.
"Yes I'm fine thank you, I just hope you aren't cut to deep." She signed as she reached out to my cut.
As ginger grazed it I flinched a little, making her quickly pull away.
"I'm sorry I didn't mean to hurt you!"
"Your fine ma'am."
At this point the cashier had noticed what had gone down and called the police. They had taken the thug away, confirming that he was apart of a local gang, and that the other guys were most likely part of that gang as well. The paramedic had handed Kaminari a bandage for his wound when the policeman walked over thanked Kaminari for immobilizing this guy. He apparently has been wanted for assault and thievery for a decent amount of time.
"No problem sir, just doing my job." Kaminari said as he grabbed his groceries.
He was relieved to see that all of his pitches remained intact. He just had to make one more stop, and then he was free to go back to UA. He just hoped  this shopping trip didn't have any detours.
It's not that he didn't like helping people, it's just that he wanted to make it back to UA in one piece, with all of his groceries. Then maybe he could finally prove he wasn't a screw up.

The last stop Denki had to make wasn't one his classmates would know about, in fact this stop was unnecessary in his mission of approval, he was visiting the cemetery.
On the occasions his classmates caught him sneaking out he would say he was visiting a distant relative, that his parents were making him visit. Oh how he wished that was true.
He was making his final turn down the old concrete walkway as he came upon two graves, one for his father, and one for his mother. He sat down in front of them as he pulled out a bouquet of flowers he had gotten at AEON. Sunflowers. His parents favorite. They used to say that Kaminari was their little sunflower, the light of their lives. Their lives that were cut short in an unfortunate accident.
A couple of months after the Kaminaris had moved to Japan, they had decided to go out to eat, to celebrate Denki doing well in school. They had decided to go to a quaint little diner on the rough side of town. As they were walking they were jumped by a couple of gang members. What was supposed to be a tiny mugging was turned into a blood bath, as Denki Kaminaris parents were shot right in front of him.
"Hey mom, hey dad." He said voice trembling, "I hope your doing well, better than me," he laughed.
"Today was quite an eventful day. I like to think that you would be proud of me." He said voice breaking at the end. "I helped a lost little boy, gave him some advice, I should probably listen to my own words." He mumbled the last part. "There was a g-gang trying to hurt a women," he squeaked out the last part, getting flashback of that awful night. "I didn't, didn't let it happen to someone else." He sobbed, trembling as he rubbed his hands in his knees. "She gets to go home to her family, her kids."

As he left the graveyard he smiled to himself through tears. Even if he couldn't have helped his family back then, he could help people know, and that's all he needed to prove, that he, Denki Kaminari was not an idiot.
