~Kamis POV~Winter was one of my favorite seasons. The snow had a way of masking the cruelty we had inflicted upon the planet, transforming a sorrowful world into a fantasy land, one I would see only in my dreams. Sure it was cold, and people usually got sick, but it was just, just so peaceful.
I just sat at the window, the engine of the bus rumbling in the background, as I tuned out everything but my own thoughts. I had been called by Jirou to come to our spot, the hill on the outskirts of town, with a willow tree at the top. She had chosen a peculiar time to meet as the sky was dark, but not completely black. I had made sure to pack an extra jacket, the leather one we would pass between the two of us, and some gloves.
I was snapped out of my own thoughts by the sudden stop the bus had made. A familiar stop as every driver always overlooked it, only noticing it in time to hit the brake. I grabbed my bag as I waved goodnight to the driver, exiting the bus.
As I stepped into the cold afternoon air, I felt a small wave of nostalgia wash over me, if that's even the right word. It was this strange sense of familiarity, as if I had done this a million times before. It was just a feeling that made me smile.
My therapist had said the only way to recover, was to live for the small things, moments like these, where everything just seemed to be perfect, where everything was ok. It was those small things, that would give me a will to live, a will to keep hanging on. I was finally living one of those small moments, those breathtaking simple little moments. As I replayed the various conversations in my head, the ones were I was told over and over that the world had so much to offer, that there was beauty in life, and that beauty would give me a reason to keep breathing. I truly was living for the small things.
These thoughts kept me company as I walked up the hill, layered in snow to our spot. Making sure to step in the ore made footsteps, I had almost reached the top, and by the time I was there, snowflakes were tangled in my hair, giving off snow kingdom vibes. As I walked towards the tree, I noticed Jirou, sitting under our tree, just staring. I made my way over to sit down next to her, breaking her gaze for us to make eye contact. She gave a slight gasp as her face lit up and her eyes tinted with tears. She reached out to touch my face, hand sending chills through my body as it came in contact with my face.
"Hey, Kyo! Are you ok-" I was cut off by her lips colliding with mine, sending goosebumps throughout my body, I could java stayed like this all day, unfortunately, oxygen is a thing that allows us to breathe, so we slowly pull away.
"I missed your smile Denks..." She says in a bittersweet tone. I hadn't even noticed I had been smiling since I got here, the thought only made me smile brighter, which soon turned into giggles and fits of laughter. Jirou even joined in my fits as we both sat there staring over the city. The sky had become what could only be described as a work of art. The colors of the sun and clouds swirled into a beautiful tragedy and the sky became painted with the colors. Everything about this moment was perfect. It was a small moment. It was beautiful.
