The light tapping from the other room put a little pep in her step. She cleaned and cooked and tidied all day, but she'd toughened for the job long ago. The tip tap from the room above her made the work load somewhat easier.
VFlower had served the Kamui house loyaly for the past 7 years. She began as a little girl, apprenticed by her mother in the same household. She'd grown accustomed to the tap dancing lessons the little girls of the house partook in. She had far  outgrown her envious faze, and decided to teach it to herself quietly while the family slept.
Being a maid had its ups and downs. She was a distant part of the Kamui household; they might have even considered her family. They gave her a roof over her head and plenty of food to eat. In return she kept their large estate up and running.
The Kamui was  a large, powerful family full of respectable occupations, from lawyers to concert musicians.
Vflower loved the family. Sure, they got on her nerves, but she was basically raising an entire generation as a side nanny, and she didn't take that position lightly. She worked diligently and tactically. Snotty, unkept and untended too children with powerful, rich parents didn't mix well; she knew that first hand.
Vflower would turn 21 this year. She was most excited to finally be allowed any leftover drinks she could get her hands on tending to the many banquets and balls the house hosted.
The family consisted of a mother, father, and 8 children.
Nagisa Kamui, the head of the household, was a lawyer for the country in which they lived. He was respected by many, and hates my more.
His wife, Kaori Kamui, was the opposite of her husband. Instead of being a hard, stoic lawyer, she was a scientist. She enjoyed botany, and had made many revolutionary discoveries. She was appraised by many aspiring botanists, and even held private classes in the household.
Their 8 children, in order, where Gakupo, who would be 14 next summer, Lily, Gumi, Yukari, Yohio, Yuuma, Rana, and little baby Gachapoid, who would turn 8 months as soon as the season were to turn winter. Vflower has been present for all 8 births, minus Gakupo's. Her mother had assisted with him.
Vflower cleaned and cleaned, humming and listening out for the pitter patter of little feet. After the children's afternoon extra cuticular activities, it would time for their nap.
Close behind her walked one of the other trusted maids. She slipped a letter into Vflower's hand before giggling and scurrying off.
It was a letter from Ms. Mayu {she could tell from the sloppy cursive handwriting}
She looked at it and gasped. There was to be another ball that night, and Mayu had promised this time to slip a drink or two her way.
