PROLOGUE

AVERY'S

"Did you hear the news?"

I get my coffee and went to my table. I just look at the computer and keep doing my job.

"Hello? Ms. Hayse? Am I talking to you?" Zilian keep pestering me on my table until I looked at her, frustrated.

"About what? My boss flirting with another girl?" I rolled my eyes at her.

"That's not new, baby." Hindi na ko nagulat ng lumabas ang boss ko sa opisina niya at nginisihan ako. "C'mon, just be one of them. I'll be gentleman."

"Just get lost, SIR." I emphasize the 'sir' word as a respect.

"I have a meeting anyway, bye sungit." Kaagad naman siyang pumasok sa elevator na ikina-iling ko na lang.

"He's really incredible, don't you think so? What a perfect boss. Can we just change?" Zilian said while obviously admiring my boss.

"I'm gladly giving my job to you, Ms. Ferrer." Humigop ako sa tasa ko at bumalik na ulit sa trabaho ko.

I'm fixing Sir Quenly's schedule for tomorrow. It's a special day for his friend. Whatever, dinadagdagan niya lang naman ang trabaho ko!

"But seriously, Avery! Hindi mo pa narinig?" May pag-aalinlangan ang mukha niya. Mukhang hindi ganoon kaganda ang sasabihin niya.

"What? You're pregnant? Oh c'mon that's not shocking." Nagawa ko pang tumawa sa pang-iinis sa kaniya habang may ginagawa.

"Oh yeah, let's see if you can still laugh. Skyler is back!" Kaagad akong napatigil sa pagtawa at napatingin sa kaniya.

"Have a goodnight, baby." Paggaya niya sa tawag ni Sir Quen sa akin at kaagad na umalis.

Nagawa pa nitong magpaalam sa mga kakilala niyang employees dito.

Wow! That bitch needs a punch!

Huminga ako ng malalim at pinipilit na makapag-focus ulit sa ginagawa ko.

"It's alright, masyado namang malaki ang Manila para magkita kami. Yeah, it's okay. And I don't really care about it." Yeah, fool my self.

Bigla namang may tumawag at sinagot ko kaagad iyon.

"What? I'm busy." Wika ko.

["I want to see you. Now."] Wika ni Cali sa kabilang linya.

"Are you crazy? Do you want some punch, you moron! Get yourself a fucking girlfriend, asshole!" Mahina ngunit madiin kong wika. Ayokong marinig ako ng mga katrabaho ko. Nakakahiya.

["I miss you, Riley."]

"Ang arte mo, hindi mo ko malalandi kahit wala akong boyfriend." I sighed to keep myself calm. "Did you just call to annoyed me? Then you succeed. Gonna hang up--"

"Alright, just kidding." I heard him chuckled. "Pikon talaga e. Come to my house, let's drink."

"And why?"

"Because I want to."

"Then drink by yourself."

"I'm coming to your office." I can imagine that he's smiling right now and it irritates me.

"Gosh Cali, aren't you busy? Really? Being CEO?"

"Yeah, in fact I have so many time in my hands because I am the CEO." He even laugh and I just hanged up on him.

That jerk really knows nothing.

After waiting so many hours, finally! It's time to go home! It's 7:00 in the evening and I finally smile.

I get my bag and stuff na pwedeng ituloy sa bahay. Balak ko sanang bisitahin ang Avery's Fashion pero gusto ko ng magpahinga kaya baka bukas na lang. Tumayo na ako at pumasok sa office ng boss ko.

"Have a goodnight, Sir. Bye." Bago pa man siya makapagsalita ay kaagad akong umalis at pumunta sa elevator. Tinakbo ko pa iyon dahil medyo malayo ang elevator dahil malawak ang opisina.

Nang makapasok sa elevator ay kaagad akong sumandal sa gilid at pinindot ang 1st floor.

Biglang tumawag si Cali at napipilitan ko iyong sinagot.

"Wait, aw! Don't do that!" Maarte kong sabi pagkasagot ng tawag. I have an acting skill and I'm using it to Cali everytime I wanted to.

["What the hell, Avery Riley Hayse? Who's the fucking man? What the fuck are you doing with him, Avery?!"] Galit na galit na wika nito. I even set it to the loud speaker for me to heard him getting angry.

Kaagad naman akong tumawa sa reaksyon niya. "I succeed. I'm sorry about that, Cali. I was having a good time with my imaginary boyfriend." Tumawa pa ako ng tumawa at panay naman ang banta niya sakin.

["You'll regret it, Avery! I'm going to kill you!"] I heard him saying 'tss'.

Panay pa rin ang tawa ko ng biglang bumukas ang pinto ng elevator sa 15th floor. It's a meeting area. Nawala ang ngiti sa labi ko at kaagad napalitan ng gulat.

A very handsome man came in with an elegant look. Kahit simpleng tuxedo lang ang suot nito ay sobrang gwapo nito. Including his temptating beautiful lips. Mukhang hindi naman ito nagulat ng makita ako at hindi lang ako pinansin. Mag-isa siyang pumasok at pumwesto sa kabilang gilid.

["What? Did you suddenly get scared that I might bit you when you go down here?"] I even heard him laughing at the other line.

"As if, dream on jerk." Biglang nawala sa isip ko si Skyler na nasa tabi ko lang dahil sa pangarap ni Cali. Assuming amp!

["Should I just leave a kiss mark on your neck? In that way people will say that your someone's property."]

"You're so full of nonsense. Let's talk when I go down there. Bye."

Shit! It's too late when I remembered that it's on loudspeaker. Wow! Just wow! Skyler heard those flirt words by Cali! But so what anyway? Urgh! Whatever it's still embarassing!

"You should've use earphone for your own privacy." Rinig kong wika ni Skyler.

"I'm sorry, I forgot that you're there." Tss. Hindi ako magpapatalo sayo 'no! As if you don't know that I'm a bitch!

I heard him chuckled and I didn't look at him. Whatever, Skyler!

"So you have a boyfriend?" Napatingin na ako sa kaniya.

"Ano naman sayo? I don't talk to strangers, sorry." Nang bumukas ang elevator ay kaagad akong lumabas at nagmamadaling lumabas ng building.

I saw Cali near the building resting on his car. When he saw me he suddenly smiled and when he looked at my back, his smile faded.

"Hey, babe." I just rolled my eyes at him. Honestly, everytime we saw each other he's greeting me like that. I'm getting used of it. He even put his arms around my shoulder when I come near him. "So where do you wanna drink? In my house or your place?"

"I'm actually tired. Let's go home." When I said that he whisper something to me.

"Should I hug you to recharge your energy?"

I smiled at him and hold his cheeks. "Have a death wish?"

"Fine, come in--"

"Avery? Cali?" Before I even get in the car, someone suddenly called our names.

Nang lingunin ko iyon ay nakita ko ang babaeng kinaiinisan ko simula ng maging kami ni Skyler. Well that was a long time ago but she still pissed me off.

Why the hell do I need to meet her? Why the hell do I need to meet him too?
