The train was moving!

Hermione Granger stepped into an empty carriage. She took out her book and read.

"Apparently Harry Potter is coming to Hogwarts." said a boy with blonde hair to his friends, stepping into the carriage.

Hermione looked up, and gasped.

"Alright?" asked the boy.

"You're... You're a Malfoy, aren't you? I've read all about ancient wizarding families, and the Malfoy family is by far the best."

"Draco. And you are?"

"Hermione Granger."

"Blood status?"

"Muggle born."

"Pureblood."

"I know."

"You might want to get changed." he said pointedly.

"Oh... Um... Yes."

She began to unbutton her top.

"Not here!"

She scurried from the compartment.

"I fink she likes you mate." said a thick a fat boy who came in with him.

"She's a mudblood, my father would never allow it."

When she got back, Draco said "Can I talk to you? Alone?"

"Sure." replied Hermione.

She made a move to get up.

"No, you stay here. Crabbe and Goyle can go."

"We can?" they said dumbly.

He nodded.

As they left, Draco looked at Hermione. She was pretty. In an effortless way. Like she had just tumbled out of bed and shown up.

"Hermione?"

"Yes Draco?"

Wow. His name sounded amazing dropping from her red lips.

He leaned forward.

'Do you want to be friends?" he asked shyly. "But we'd have to do it in secret, my father would never allow a friendship between a muggle born and a pureblood. "

"Yes." she beamed.
