Draco Malfoy stepped out of the carriage, his robes sweeping along behind him.

With a wink, directed at Hermione, the first years clambered into the boat, and he closed his eyes, weary and exhausted from the long journey.

When they arrived, Draco whispered into Hermione's ear, "Don't ask to be in the house I get put it. I'll be a Slytherin because I'm a Malfoy and Malfoys are Slytherins, but you need to be in the right house."

Hermione nodded, although she hasn't intended to ask the hat anything!

When Draco went to join the Slytherin table, to a round of applause, Hermione began to feel a little nervous. Maybe she should ask the hat.

"Please, please let me be in Slytherin."

The hat roared out the name of thr house of snakes, and she sat down to join her friend.

"Hermione," he began, "are you sure you didn't ask?"

"Sure."

"Hmm..."

All the same, he flushed. She obviously wanted to get close to him.
