Richard.
"Tolu is sleeping and you're next?" His large hands palm his face. "That's just fucking pathetic."
He roughly places the woman's dead body into his car trunk and closes it. "It didn't even sound professional."
He speaks to himself, evidently embarrassed and disappointed. "I could've done better. Shit!" He marches into his unattractive truck and slams himself in.
"Sleeping? Why the fuck did I say sleeping? I could've just said she was dead." He hits his dashboard repeatedly in anger, obviously distressed.
He turns the car in the ignition, the engine roars and he pauses. "She must've thought I was some dumb guy. Maybe I even suppose talk am for pidgin." His hands go unto his head, his mind filled to the brim with some unidentifiable shame.
He's still talking to himself, analyzing his lack of choice words when a call comes in. It's his boss.
"Richard where are you? If you're still at Dr. Williams' house, you need to leave there right now. You know what to do, dump the body somewhere and go home. Have you heard?"
Richard is still at war with himself, very irritated. "Oga, do you know what I said to that woman?"
"What? Richard I said get out of-
"Oga wait wait, just listen. I told her her friend was sleeping like one stupid amateur." His voice booming in his truck.
"Richard comot for that place now now."
He becomes outrageous, "Oga I dey tell you say I just embarrass myself, you dey shout for phone! See see, I know what's paining me now. If you don't want to listen to me, then just end the call."
"Richard you dey craz-
"Are you deaf?" A short pause, then, "Okay okay, just drive to the next street then I'll listen to you."
"Ehehn you're just talking to me." He quickly drives his car as his boss said and parks next to a small kiosk. He turns off his car engine and begins to rant.
"I just embarrassed myself. I should've just said her friend was dead abi? Instead, I con tell am say her friend dey sleep. Oga you see, you see say na fuck up I fuck up." Richard is almost seething.
"Just calm down. First calm down." The phone speaks, he calms down. "You said the right thing ehn."
"Oga you sure?" He stares at his phone, desperate for his boss's assurance.
"Yes I'm sure." Richard lets out a breath. "You did well. Moreover the woman is already dead so, it doesn't even matter."
Richard laughs. "Shey na that my tanker guy you use?"
"Yes," the voice begins to sound exasperated.
"I tell you say the guy good, no be so?" He laughs louder, pleased with the turn out of things.
"Just leave that area, dispose the body and go to your house. When I have another work for you, I'll call you."
Richard hails his boss, "You're the man sir!"
The line clicks. Richard heads on to complete his job.
