It was a normal day. Well, not normal per se, because it was Christmas day, but it seems that there were no major differences. The people, the buildings, the streets, they looked like they do on a regular winter day. Until suddenly a blue blur on a bike zoomed on the streets.

"Hey! Watch where you're going!" a pedestrian yelled as the blur sped past him. "Sorry!" the blur yelled back hurriedly. "Kids these days..." the pedestrian muttered.

The blue comet-like blur was, in fact, a young man with spikey, porcupine-styled hair. His article of clothing, that could barely be seen due to the speed, was a red scarf and blue suit. A bulging medium sized bag could be seen on his shoulder. And his name is.... Sonic the Hedgehog.

...

...

...

Nope! Just kidding! His name is Phoenix Wright, attorney at law. Proof... was on his lapel. A defense attorney's badge was stuck on it, gleaming like a mini sun when a ray of light was reflected on it. Except now he didn't look really lawyer-y as he rode a bicycle at an extreme speed and yelled sorry at the people on the sidewalk.

He finally took a sharp turn and his bike made a squeaking noise as it slipped on the slippery road. "Gah!" he exclaimed before he fell flat on the butt. Thankfully he fell right into his destination, the Prosecutor's Office.

Getting up and parking the bike on section B of the parking lot, he made his way to a particular room on the twelfth floor, but not before receiving a venomous glare from the receptionist. He did look pretty messy due to the fall, and moreover, he was a defense attorney.

"Hey Edgeworth, Merry Christmas!" Phoenix said as he entered room 1202, which was in fact, the office of a certain high prosecutor named Miles Edgeworth, a fancy-looking man with a frilly three layered cravat who was sitting behind the carefully polished desk.

The room itself looked pretty fancy, just like its owner, with red silk curtain, a luxurious looking sofa, a bookcase that reached the ceiling, an intricate looking suit framed and hung on the wall, some beautiful and fresh-looking flowers by the window, a custom made chess set displaying red and blue pawns instead of the normal white and black ones, and fancy tea set. The only things that looked pretty out of place were a Steel Samurai figurine (only goodness knows why he keeps it) and man in a scruffy green coat standing by the desk.

"Oh hey, Pal. Merry Christmas," the man in a scruffy green coat said. "Ah, Detective Gumshoe! I didn't see you there. Merry Christmas to you too, Detective!" Phoenix said cheerfully. "So what brings you here today, Pal?" Detective Gumshoe asked.

"Ah right, I came here to deliver the Christmas presents from me, Maya, and Pearls. Well, more like from me, me, and me. You know how Maya is about spending money. 'Nick! Money should only be spent for burgers!' she'd always say. And Pearls would always back up her precious Mystic Maya, so you can imagine my suffering." Phoenix rambled as he reached inside his bag for the said presents. "Anyway, I need to get back soon. I can't leave Maya alone with Pearls in the office even only for a while. They'll wreck the whole place up!"

"Hm..." Gumshoe said as he wriggled his eyebrows. Phoenix couldn't help but notice that something weird was going on. The atmosphere of the office seemed pretty different than usual after all. "So, what's wrong, Detective? You look gloomier than usual," Phoenix commented.

Gumshoe scratched the back of his head. "Uh, it's just that Mr. Edgeworth had been acting like this since he arrived here," came the reply from the detective. Phoenix took a closer look at the said prosecutor. He normally looks curt and edgy, with a piercing cold stare. And he looked like he usually does. But even Phoenix could tell that something was different today.
