I wake up to the sound of creaking floorboards. Damn this old
house, I can never get enough sleep around here. "Ughhhh" I toss and turn but I eventually just give up, get up, and go downstairs. I enter the kitchen expecting to see my mom or my dad or someone, but its empty. Its even a bit colder than usual... "Mom?" No answer. "Dad?" No. "Michael?" Nope. Where in hell could they be?
30 minutes pass by and there is still no sign of anyone. I just don't understand why they would leave me by myself on my birthday. Even Michael wouldn't leave me by myself, I know I'm big enough to be by myself but that's not the point, the point is that its my special day. Whatever, guess I'll be spending today with myself. Yay.
I hear footsteps in the dining room area. "Hello?" The footsteps are getting louder, closer. I get up and walk over to the room, there's no one. "Pssst." I hear a soft whisper in my ear. "Who's there?" I ask. "Haha, nice to hear your voice again Sadie, its been quite a while. Oh, but this time I can see you... can you see me?" The voice says, and suddenly a boy comes walking into the room, rather attractive, his hair was brown flipped up, he had hazel eyes, and a thin, light complected face. "Wh-who are you?" I ask taking a few steps back. "Sadie! Its me, Charlie! Don't you remember? I was that voice in your head?" He says. Oh my god, at this point I'm not sure if I'm imagining this, or if its real. "Oh wait.... LANA! GET OVER HERE!" he yells. "I'm coming, sheesh." Then a girl walks in, I remember her like I had just seen her yesterday, dirty blond hair, grey eyes, thin, narrow face. "Lana!!" I ran up and gave her a hug. "Missed you baby girl." She squeezes me tight. "Wow. She gets a hug and I don't?" Charlie complains. "Sorry." I go over and give him a big hug. It feels so good to be reunited with them.
"Wow, you guys haven't aged a bit." I say as I drink my coffee.
"Well duh, remember, we're not exactly human." Charlie replies picking at his fingernails.
"I know but its weird how I've caught up to you guys."
"Woah, woah, woah, wait, what year is it?" Asks Lana
"Um... 1985." I answer
"Holy crap." She says
"It sure has been a while. Hey, did either of you happen to see any of my family at all today?" I ask them hoping that they know where they are.
They look at each other and answer simultaneously, "Nope."
