Prologue

First of all, I'm not a lifeguard- yet. Keep in mind all of the theories, methods, and procedures I've learned works in theory. Please don't address me as a teenage lifeguard because I'm still unsure of my ability to actually save lives. I learned the basics since fourth grade, received proper training at a different course at the age of 12, then moved to this particular course since last year, so on the spectrum of a complete beginner at swimming to an actual experienced lifeguard, I'd say I'm right in the middle. I know what I'm talking about, but still not sure about whether I can do them out of practice.

The reason why this journal exists is that I lost most of the memories from the course last year so I want to do something different this time. I'm writing a journal. Not unlike any journal, this is also sentimental – package of emotions include extreme misery, happiness, pride, nostalgia etc. Close friends are definitely welcome, but family members, get out. Now.

I'm not going for any direction in particular. I just write what I want, its main purpose is to jog back memories if I read this in the future. So I apologize in advance if this journal seems a little scattered or all over the place – I don't plan and I don't reread and edit every passage I write in this journal, including this prologue. The whole book is 100% raw material, and I'm most likely going to cringe at this in the near future.

If you're reading this, I hope you take away more than just random laughs and facts – I hope some of you can actually go learn to save lives because of this journal. As long as there's that one person who saved just one life because of me in the future, I'm content. I don't expect much views or votes, literally the closest book to the topic that Wattpad can offer me is a romance novel called Drowning in Desire. But if you're just curious, and only want to have a glimpse about what a person goes through to become a lifeguard, you're welcome too. If you don't wish to be a lifeguard, at least spread the message for me so more can be helped or even saved.

If there's a professional lifeguard or even coach who's reading this, and wants to offer advice or even criticism about my passage, yes please. I'm really inexperienced, I'm just a kid, and I need feedback so please speak up or send it over through my inbox if you have something to say. If you find a grammar error somewhere, notify me also.

Also I learned my English from Cambridge exams, so excuse me if my writing sometimes sounds like a textbook.
