Chapter 2
Jasmine's POV
I always knew I was gonna move away. That I was going to escape this small boring town filled with gossip. I never knew it was gonna come by this fast. Moving away at seventeen definitely is not easy, here I am, driving away, my car full of every single belonging of mine. Moving to a new city, more than two hundred miles away from my family. Oh, how I am going to miss my amazing family.
I pull up to my new home, a friendly looking apartment complex with kids playing out on the playground. My family had helped put all the furniture in the apartment so I had to bring was all my clothes, which was a lot of clothes. I had about three suitcases in my car. I'm so glad I had gotten an apartment on the first floor. There was no way I would have been able to drag my suitcases up the stairs without falling. I pull one suitcase out and make my way towards my apartment. As I am putting the key to open my door, I hear the apartment in front of mine open. I turn around to see an elderly lady come out.
"You must be my new neighbor, welcome to the neighborhood sweetie. I'm Agnes." She introduces herself holding her hand out to shake. I shake her hand, introducing myself. She begins asking me where I moved from, then invited me over for dinner tonight. I agreed to go over for dinner, then she had left to run her errands.
It was around seven when I had barely finished putting two of my suitcases away. I had about fifteen minutes until I had to go over Agnes'. So I quickly got in the shower.
Currently, Agnes is telling me about her husband who had passed away two years ago. As she started to talk about him, she had a spark flash in her eyes. She's talking about him with such admiration in her eyes.
After talking to Agnes for many hours we planned on going out for coffee the next morning. Agnes is such a sweet person, she is showing me nothing but kindness. Agnes is such a positive person to be around, I'm so glad that she's my first friend here, even with the age difference. She reminds me of my own grandma, oh how I miss my grandma. My grandma currently lives in Canada with my aunt, so I rarely get to see her.
I wake up to my alarm going off at seven. I cannot believe I'm getting up this early. But I was looking forward to going get coffee with Agnes.
It's about nine when we meet each other outside, we quickly make our way to my car and drive off.
Thirty minutes into us being at the coffee place a very very attractive man in a suit comes barging in looking pissed off. The entire coffee house turned silent and seemed to be looking at him from the corner of their eyes. Oddly he comes towards our table then engulfs Agnes. As he was striding toward our table he seemed to hold such a dare vibe around him.
"Agnes, I have been calling you for two hours. You had me worried sick." He says while holding her tight.
"Harry I told you I don't like carrying around those things." She told him scoldingly. Was this her son? She never mentioned anything about a son to me, so that was odd.
"It's so for your safety." He finally says letting go. Their attention turns to me, so Agnes introduces us.
"Harry this is my new neighbor, Jasmine this is my son." She says while he puts a hand forward to shake.
"It's nice to meet you," he says shaking hands, his hands warm.
"Likewise," I say with a small smile. He quickly says an apology and tells Agnes he will be visiting soon.
