Argh. Why? Why me? Why my brother is so stupid? With all the girls in the room, why is he kissing that slut of Isabella? She is not even pretty.

Okay. Breath in and breath out. I walk in the kitchen and here he is, my best friend and future alpha of my pack.

Being the daughter of the beta and one of the strongest wolf in the pack, they gave me the opportunity to be the future beta but I refused because I never wanted such big responsibilities on my shoulders. My brother, who is the eldest, took that position.

I'm a fighter, and to fight is the only thing I really want.

Jackson, my best friend, will step up as alpha in two weeks, the day of he's eighteen birthday. He's exited about it but I know that deep down is scared. Being the alpha means that all the people in the pack depends on you.

"What happened?" he asked as he noticed my disgusted face.

"Cade is sucking Isabelle face in the living room"

"And?" he asked again.

"And what? It's disgusting, and she's a slut" i simply said.

"Oh c'mon, what if they're mates? What are you gonna do?"

"Pff, there's no way their mates. That's not possible" i answered.

"Speaking of mates, I guess you didn't find yours yet" he said as he embraced me in his arms.

"Nope"

"Good, because I don't want to share my best friend with some one else" and with that he dragged me to the dance floor.

I don't know why but my wolf is going crazy. It's been a while now. Me and Jake are dancing together, surrounded by all the teenagers in the pack.

"Jake I'm going to take a drink. I'll be back soon" I informed him, trying to get out of the crowd.

I headed for the kitchen. Here the air is much cleaner and there is no one in sight, but my wolf is still pacing in the back of my head. It worries me because she acts this way only when something is about to happen.

I remember the first time i spoke with her. My first shift wasn't easy at all. Due to the fact that I have beta's blood in me, it was really painful. But my wolf, Genevieve, gave me the strength to make it.

It's been two years from my first shift and we never argued. It's unusual but I like it this way. It makes things easier for me.

Please, go outside. I need some fresh air. She spoke in my mind.

I opened the door the headed to the back porch and sat on the stairs. The moon was bright in the sky but not full. The woods that surrounded the back house was quite.

After five minutes Genevieve was good enough for me to return inside. She was still nervous but assured me that she could handle it.

Back in the house the music was loud and the air stiff. But one thing as changed. Now I could smell clearly the most delicious smell in the universe: rain and mint. I followed it and as I was turning the corner I faced a black wall.
