16 July, 1839.
Daniel and Joey are walking, with their heavy bags, towards the small village called Altstadt . Finally, their feet can rest. As Joey looks for a place to stay, Daniel observes the village. This Prussian village seems strange and has a weird lifestyle. All the houses have barricaded windows, even if it's not abandoned. Daniel thought it'd look a little bit more "alive". Everybody looks bored and insecure. Joey comes back:
"I got us a room for tonight. We'll leave tomorrow and we'll head to the forest."
"Great!"
"So, before we go to sleep, would you like to drink a beer?"
"Of course!" Answers Daniel.
Joey and Daniel go to the bar. They open the doors and go sit on the contoir. Daniel orders two beers and asks the bartender if he knows someone that could guide them.
The bartender shows him a table, to his right and gives the two beers to Daniel and Joey. Daniel thanks the man and tells Joey to follow. They go sit in front of the man and Joey says:
"Could you guide us to a certain location?"
The man raises his eyes to see Joey better.
"It depends on where you are going." Answers the man.
"We would like to go in the forest at the end of the village.
The man looks at the two of them, frightened. Daniel wonders what's going on.
"You really don't know?" Asks the man.
"Know what?" Says Daniel.
"Look, we're tourists. We don't know a single thing about this village and its folklore." Tells Joey, a little bit mad.
"No one has ever came back from this forest, because of the Gatherers."
