Quincy

The sun shines in my eyes as my alarm clock rings. I turn and look at my Echo Spot, 7:00 am, too damn early. "Alexa, play the Hood Morning playlist."

"Getting Hood Morning playlist from Spotify."

I swing my feet off the bed, stretch my arms out and immediately fall into my 250 push-ups to start my day. Dojo by Konola blasted through the speaker as she ran threw my mind on her first lap. Isha. The angel who had taken over my thoughts. The way she walks, talks, and commands attention pulls me in but it's what I see behind her eyes that keeps me trapped. At first glance I just thought she was fine and I liked the view. But as months went on, and I observed her more, I started to realize that wasn't all I wanted with her. She reminds me of my mama. I sound like a real creep but, they do say you end up with people like your parents and my mama is all I got. I adore her, so when I saw her qualities in Isha, it made me want to pursue her more seriously. It was a bonus that she was probably the most gorgeous women I have seen this decade.

I got up from my push-ups, and made my way to my master bathroom. I never thought a bathroom could be lonely but this one has king and queen sinks. I'm hoping to fill that place soon. I brushed my teeth vigorously with Arm and Hammer and go to work with some floss. My phone rang in the other room but I didn't understand why someone is calling me this early so I ignored it. As I walked out of the bathroom, it started to ring again so I walk over to it and "Dear Mama 👑" makes it's way across the screen. I pick up instantly as I put the phone to my ear. "Sorry mama, I was in the bathroom. Good morning."

"Good morning, baby. You're fine, I was hoping that you were up. I had an odd dream and I wanted to ask you and your sister about it before I asked anyone else." This lady and her dreams. I laugh at her a little.

"What's up, Ma?"

"You got one of these fast-tailed girls pregnant? I had a dream of three fish. It better not be you, Quincy."

"Mama, I can promise you it ain't me."

"Oh aight now. I thought I was gonna have to come across this country and pop you. You been doing real good with your abstaining, Pop. What you doing today? Do you have any work to finish?"

"No, today is actually a very slow day for me. I put the last touches on the presentation for the board on Thursday."

Wow I can't believe I have my own board of investors. God has blessed me in ways I never imagined for myself. I've been taking my walk more seriously, going to church and yes, abstaining from sex until I get married. It started with No Nut November and the rest is a sexually frustrating but liberating history.  I walked over to my dresser and pull out a pair of shorts and some compression pants. I pulled them over my boxers, laced up my sneakers and made my way to the kitchen  for breakfast.

"Son, I always knew you were gonna be great. From the moment I laid eyes on you, I saw a star."

"You only saying that because I'm your son." I teased her as I grabbed my protein shake out of the fridge and shook it. I picked up my gym bag and keys, then made my out the door.

"Maybe, but I'm right ain't I? Look at you, you went from protecting America internationally against cyber threats to becoming an owner of your own cyber security firm and to believe you're not done yet. Q, you've made it."

"Thank you Mama, but I haven't made it until you don't have any bills to pay."

"You act like I'm not almost there. You don't yourself enough credit. You are starting a business so things will get a little shaky but I'm always gone be straight. I know you won't have it any other way."
