After Ray kissed me again, he fixed himself some coffee and headed towards the door. "I'm off to work, we'll celebrate tonight after the big promotion. Bye honey, love you." He closed and locked the door and I heard his Mercedes roll out of the driveway. Hours past and I was getting lonely. I missed Ray, I wished he came home before eleven.

I fell asleep on the sofa. I looked at the clock that read 3:45 A.M. I was getting really worried. Was Ray cheating on me? I was too tired to think. I went upstairs to go to bed and shut out the light. An hour passed and I heard a faint click of the front door lock. The door slowly creaked open then closed quietly. I headed downstairs to find Ray with another woman on the sofa. I turned on the light and my eyes filled with tears. Ray stared at me smiling. "May, this is Andrea, my-" "Your what Ray? Your new fiance?!" He looked at me and sighed. "May, we've been through this." "Oh, yeah, I know. I wasn't good enough for you so you went out and got yourself a new woman.." "She's my sister, May! I'd never cheat on you! Jesus, why can't you trust me?!" I stared at him and gazed at my feet."I'm sorry. It's just that I've been hurt before and I don't want to be hurt again." He smiled and came closer to me, holding my waist. "You don't have to worry. I would never cheat on you. I love you, only you. There's no one I'd rather be with." I smiled and apologized to Ray's sister. "It's alright, May," she said. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Ray told me so much about you."

I looked at the time. 4:45 A.M. the clock glared back at me. "Ray, why did you come home so late?"

"I stopped by the Denny's and ate breakfast before coming home. I was five minutes out on the interstate when I saw my sister and her car parked on the side of the road. She needed a ride so I offered her one." He looked at me calmly. I nodded. "She wanted to know if she could stay just for tonight and call her husband in the morning to pick her up." I nodded again. "Yeah, sure. That's fine, she can stay tonight."
