Second Chapter: Tomorrow
Third Person Point of ViewAmanda's phone dinged signalling that she just received a text message. She frantically stood up from the window sill as she made her way towards the table where her mobile was plugged in. Text messages were important to her since she thinks that all messages are urgent or a-must-reply.
She opened the phone revealing a text from Gloria.
Gloria: Hi! How was your moving-in day? Are you finally settled in? I will absolutely miss you. I'll be sure to come over and visit. :( <3
Amanda smiled at the message. She missed Gloria too despite that they just met this morning.
Amanda: Gloria, I missed you too!! You should definitely come over if it isn't a bother, but I heard that the place won't be accepting visitors? IDK, I might beg my aunt for it. Hahahaha. Moving day was great but depressing. I missed home. I hope all is well with you.
Gloria: Oh you bet I am ALLOWED to visit there. You'll know it soon ;). Anyways, Panda, I gotta go, my mom is calling me for dinner. I just wanted to check up on you. Can we facetime each other sometime later or soon?
Amanda: Of course, I would love that. Happy dinner, Glory-cakes! <3
Amanda released a giggle with the nicknames. They have been using those silly nicknames since they were kids, and it made Amanda happy that Gloria still remembers it.
She happily sighed to herself as she looked at the time, 5.39 PM. Wow, it's 5 already? I must have been reading the book for too long. Amanda thought to herself as she set the book down after inserting a bookmark, and went out of her room. Dinner was at 6 PM and she wonders what food will be served to sick patients like them.
Since she still has time to spare, she decided to roam around the first floor, greeting the nurse, doctors, and patients along the way as she came to a halt in the entrance of the garden. She has always loved flowers. It was comforting.
As she sat down in a bench that was free, she looked around observing the people until someone decided to make a conversation with her.
"Hello," said a voice from behind her. Amanda turned around revealing a little girl, her black hair was in pigtails, and she's guessing that she was Asian.
"Hi there," Amanda greeted back as the little lady decided to sit beside her.
"My name is Fel." The little lady smiled.
"Well, I'm Amanda Claire." Amanda smiled back.
"How old are you?" Fel asked as she stared at Amanda with curious eyes.
"Eighteen (18). You?"
"I'm eight (8). Are you sick too?" Fel asked as she continued to stare. Amanda smiled and nodded sadly in return.
"Well, that's okay! I am sick too! I can be your friend if you're lonely. Mama told me to be-friend anyone that was lonely." Fel exclaimed as she handed Amanda a small flower. Amanda could not help but smile warmly.
"Oh wow, that would be amazing. Let us be friends, then." Amanda said as Fel took Amanda's hand on her little hands. Just in time, a bell rang signalling that it was time for everyone to gather at the dining hall for dinner.
