BEFORE NOTE: Hello friends!! People who have already been following this story and otherwise. I started writing this fanfiction on the Ghost Eyes Amino on the first of June. I honestly wasn't expecting so much positive feedback! I had been updating every day with "chapters" which basically meant however much I could write that day. I put a few of them together (ten I believe?) to make the official chapter one! I hope you enjoy! (I did a little bit of editing, so the older chapters are a tiiiiny bit different ^^)

As always, constructive criticism and honestly just any comments really help out! They let me know I'm doing a good job or maybe where I need to improve! If there are any grammar mistakes, please don't be too shy to mention them! I promise you I won't be embarrassed or irritated!

Without further ado, Yellow Lights: Chapter One.

~ ~ ~

Rudolph is certainly not the quietest boy, something that scares me beyond words. He's unlike anyone else here, which makes sense as he's not what I call a "native". This town does something to you. Anyone that sets foot in here can tell, from the small ticks people have to the looks on their faces, we're all mad here. In a boring way. Most people around me would rather spend their lives being 'different' than actually doing something they're interested in.

This is why Rudolph is an anomaly to me. Although I can never tell what his goal is, he has what seems to be a stable set of morals. At least, he's kinder than anyone I have met thus far in my life. He seems to be courteous of everyone's feelings, even if they had no intentions of returning the care. I always see it in his eyes when he's hurt. All he wants is a peaceful world. I can't blame him. Something in me wanted to strive for the same thing.

"Hey, dumbass, could you stop staring off into space? We gotta get out of here," Carmelo's firm punch to my shoulder breaks me away from my thoughts. Frantically, I gather his books and scurry after his figure disappearing through the doorway. One last sidelong glance cast at the boy on the floor is enough to make me sick. Carmelo never messes with his face. That doesn't mean his clothes don't look tattered, and with today's lunch puked up on the floor, the poor boy looks like he's lost the usual light in his eyes. Carmelo never had much mercy for him.

"I'm so fuckin' HUNGRY!" Carmelo groans. I roll my eyes without anyone noticing, as all of their attention has been turned to him. The blue haired boy continues on about how he feels like he might die, et cetera, et cetera.

Jamaraus frowns. "You didn't pack your lunch again?" Carmelo shakes his head before hitting on the table twice. Emilio glances up from his notebook to observe him, while Francis returns to eating his lunch. If I didn't know Carmelo, I'd ask why nobody helps him. His face displays a look of utter pain and despair. However, we all know his dramatic tactics to steal our food.

"I packed an extra sandwich," I say with an exhale, handing him the said food source. He snatches it, rips the poor plastic bag open, and basically inhales it.

Carmelo's forgotten his lunch for the past four days, and I got a little tired of hearing him complain. It may look like I'm giving in, but I say I'm doing out of the kindness of my heart. If I still have any down there, at least.

Although, if I didn't have an ounce of kindness left, I wouldn't have agreed to standing in as Carmelo's girlfriend.

"Hey, Emilio," Carmelo says through a mouth full of food. The black haired boy is sitting a seat away from all of us, jotting something down in that mysterious notebook of his. I've always thought he was just trying to be edgy like a lot of the people around here. I highly doubt he's constantly writing down important things.
