A/n Please go and Check out the other two versions of this story. Mass Hysteria(Moon's POV) and Mass Hysteria( Meg's POV)
I stare at the clock, noticing that we have less than half an hour in the school day. Then I stare back at the canvas, wondering what to work on next. I had the sketch next to me and large areas of paint had already been applied, but I had no clue what section to start detailing first.
Sighing, I lean back in my chair, hoping to try and waste the rest of class in my thoughts while casually looking around the room. Most of the students in class are human, despite how much society has tried to integrate others into our town. And the fact that one major species, the elementals, are being hunted by demons at the moment. It still surprises me that there's still a few elemental students walking around in their normal forms, though I guess they couldn't try to hide as human, like me, when they grew up going to school here before the killings started. I know there's at least one vampire in our class, though he wasn't here today, and I doubt there are any werewolves within miles of this place.
Stretching, I stand up and start walking around the room to see what everyone else is working on. One of the elementals in our class, with dog ears sticking out of his head, only has some abstract looking lines so far. I forgot his name. Another kid looks to be almost done, his canvas sprawled with objects of different size, shape, and function. I think his name's Steve? A blonde girl, Skye, is painting an underwater scene of fish and different aquatic plant life, which seems opposite of what her name is.
There's not much else to look at, since people are either finished or have nothing done at all, so I sit back down, to stare at my canvas again, with twenty minutes still left in class.
"What're you working on Amanda?"
I look up from my project at the sound of my fake name, though I guess the name I go by at home, Pyro, isn't my real name either.
The question came from the other elemental kid in the class, sitting across the table from me. His animal is some kind of bird, I think, seeing some feathers mixed in with his hair.
"My painting," I say bluntly, then look back down at it.
"Okay, what are you painting?"
"Whatever I want, and I'm busy trying to think about where to start, so if you could kindly shut up, I would appreciate it."
"I want to know too."
This time it came from Skye, who's sitting at another end of the table that's close enough for her to talk to me.
Wow, aren't I popular today.
"It's nothing special really, just a simple nature theme," I tell the two. "So now I'll just go back to work..." I stop talking and begin to continue my staring contest with my canvas, but out of the corner of my eye I see Skye get up and walk over.
She looks at the half finished painting, a look of curiosity displayed on her face.
"I told you," I say, "I don't have much here to look at."
"It's coming along nicely, though," she says. I glare at her, and she takes the hint, heading back to her seat.
Now there isn't any time left to work on it, so I start cleaning up my stuff, taking my pallet to the sink. I move my canvas to a drying rack, still wet from what I managed to get done today, then sit back down and watch the clock as it ticks slowly to the end of the day.
*DING. DING. DING.*
As soon as I hear the bell I spring up out of my seat and rush out the classroom. I hate having to shove my way through the crowds that form when everyone's leaving the building, so I always move as quickly as I can to the front doors. There I have to wait for Meg, the girl who's dad took me in after my parents...
