Clarisse's POV:
When you think of an urgent call to camp, you think it's under attack. Turns out, it was under attack. Not by monsters, they were fighting with their words, yelling angrily and throwing food and objects at each other. Even the gods were here, throwing objects at each other. Hephaestus was arguing with Ares and Aphrodite. Demeter was arguing with Hades. Zeus was fighting with Hera. Artemis was fighting with Apollo. Athena was yelling and throwing olive plants at Poseidon. Dionysus was arguing with Chiron. it was complete CHAOS. The campers were fighting hard. The Athena cabin was yelling at the Hermes cabin and the Hephaestus cabin was yelling at the Aphrodite cabin. All I knew was that this had to stop.
"Stop!" I yelled, but they wouldn't pause.
"I COMMAND YOU TO STOP!" I bellowed.
We all seemed invisible. Only Chiron seemed to notice and he walked away from Dionysus and came to us.
"It's the golden apple of discord... it's gone, stolen from Olympus. It holds the harmony that binds the gods and the campers together. Without it, the world is thrown into chaos without any order and the demigod race would destroy itself," he panted.
"What?" Thalia whispered.
"I need you all to do something for me..." Chiron pleaded.
"What do you want us to do?" Nico asked skeptically.
"I need you to help me... Hecate isn't here and I was hoping you'd go investigate Olympus and see if you can find her. She can use her magic to tame them for a little while but it won't last long without the golden apple. It was charged with the power of chaos," Chiron explained.
"We'll search. I promise," I said.
"Come on, guys!"
We raced towards the Empire State Building. I snatched the card out of my pocket and showed the guy. He drowsily did it and I screamed in his ear.
"HURRY UP!"
He swiped the card and we got in. The loud elevator music was torture. Simply hearing it made me want to scream and pummel the glass as hard as I could. When we got to Olympus, I ran out of the elevator, looked around frantically.
"Hecate?" I called.
"Hecate?" I called again.
A loud cackling sound echoed around the cavern. I ran in to see a bunch of monsters, but no Hecate. They were partying and the Minotaur was sitting in Zeus's throne as a sign of disrespect. Why wasn't he disintegrated? It then hit me. The gods were too busy fighting to take care of Olympus! They spotted me and the others and we all got out our weapons.
"Oh, gods," I murmured as they all got out.
There were at least a thousand of them and there were only a few of us.
"What are we going to do?" I panicked.
"We have to fight them," Thalia said grimly, "I wish I could have my sisters here with me but they're all fighting down below."
"Well, well, well. Clarisse La Rue... daughter of Ares. Nice to see you," a weird-looking monster came off of Ares's throne.
"What are you doing in my father's throne?!" I yelled at him.
The one-eyed freak simply laughed, his breath stinking like fermented black beans mixed with sewage water.
"Oh, you crack me up! I am an ancient monster, one you cannot recognize. Too old for the Olympian babies to even know... We have returned by the hand of our master... now you will be trapped here for our evening snack," he bellowed as the doors were sealed shut by a huge monster.
"Oh, shit," Chris mumbled as we were thrown into chains.
Annabeth's POV:
I stepped into the door and immediately, Hazel pulled me back. A cannon missed me by a millimeter.
"Gods, this is terrifying," I squeaked.
"Keep going..." Hazel muttered.
When we were a few steps in, she yelled.
"DUCK!"
A cannon shot over our heads.
"The coast's still not clear yet. Stand up and... LEAP!"
A cannon exploded under our feet.
"Dang, this thing is--" Leo was saying but Hazel grabbed him and threw him to the other side as a cannon narrowly missed him, simply scorching the top of his hair.
"Scary? I think we noticed that," Piper said.
Hazel ran forward and we followed her. Suddenly she screamed and had us duck.
"Jason! We need you to help us all fly! Can you hold us? They're gonna explode from the top and the bottom and if we're on the floor or too high we're toast!" she yelled.
Jason had us hold hands and curl into little balls and I felt the air under us. It was heated by the millions of cannonballs exploding over our heads and under our bodies. We all screamed and finally, we moved forward. Jason sighed in relief and we all ran and jabbed at the door. Hazel yelled a warning and pulled me back just in time for the last cannon to explode right in front of the door. We ran out and gasped for breath.
"Gods! That was scary!" I breathed as we got out.
Suddenly, Leo began to gag and moan. I stared in concern before he was throwing up. Finally, I realized what he had thrown up. It was the fuchsia berries, but now... they were fragments of gold. I threw up, too and we pressed them all together, making 1/2 of the apple full.
"We just need to find the last 1/2 of it!" I exclaimed before I heard a yell.
"There they are! Get them!"
I saw a bunch of the lady servants yelling and shooting guns at us.
"RUN!" I yelled, diving into the trees.
They were running after us.
"They want the golden apple pieces! Go!" I yelled.
We saw it... it was a cliff. A dead end. I looked frantically at them and shook my head. Jason pushed us all over the edge and jumped off himself. We all screamed.
"JASON!"
Then, we were levitating. We heard yowls and they were all plummeting off of the cliff, screaming and wailing. We got on the cliff again and breathed a sigh of relief.
"Oh, gods! That was literally one of the scariest moments in my life!" I gasped.
"The compass! The compass! Annabeth, did you lose it?" Hazel asked.
I felt around until I picked up the golden compass hanging from a branch that was going to fall off the cliff. I snatched it before it could fall.
"I nearly lost it. It's pointing west again! Let's go!"
We took off running.
