[Headcanons] Minecraft lore

No book intro, you get the picture. This will almost certainly be updated faster than my Oneshots book because haha procrastination goes brr

These are some headcanons for Minecraft lore that I have and will use in my HC fanfiction, basically how I picture things while I'm writing. This will probably have a followup for more MC lore that doesn't directly apply to my fanfiction writing, but, uh, here we go!

Communicators 

They're a little bit larger in size than an average cellphone and they function similar to one, they have a screen and a keypad. They have two modes, one where the screen flips up and you type using the keypad, the other where the screen is a touchscreen and you type on it just like with a cellphone. The communicator can be carried like a cellphone in your pocket and such or strapped around your arm. You can chose which mode and which arm to strap it to.

The communicators have two, p r o g r a m s? two windows? idk. One is the chat (main chat, private messages, for typing commands if you have the perms to, for making calls) and the other is the navigator (displays coordinates, biome, direction, it's basically all the information you get when you press f3 minus computer spects ofc). 

If you die and you have your communicator on you, you respawn with it. If you set your communicator aside, it stays there until you pick it back up.

Communicators can be damaged. They're build to be durable enough to take some hits but they aren't Nokia-level strong.

Inventories

Inventories are like a hammerspace/pocket dimension. You don't need something physical but some players carry a bag/purse or something to draw from.

The hotbar is like the items very closest to the edge, the player knows what's right there and can draw them out the quickest. The other inventory items require the player to actually like, look into the inventory to see and pull the items close enough to use.

Elytra 

Elytra wings are beetle-like in appearance. They have a special magic woven into them that allows them to be controlled by the wearer. They were crafted back before the End was enslaved and the magic that was used to create them is now lost, so you can't make new elytra and have to find them in the End instead.

When you equip an elytra, you put on a harness with the wings on the back. When you close the clasp on an elytra it triggers the connection spell- it makes a magical connection with your brain so that the wings can be moved like they're an actual appendage. Since humans are naturally too heavy to fly the elytra itself can't help them make liftoff (which is why the need for rockets), however, it can help them glide and moving the wings can control their flight.
