Chapter 2

Nathan's View

"I love you, mwah... mwah... mwah...", Tori declared to Brendon as they were sucking on each other's faces. I, along with Kara, don't see what Victoria sees in that suck up. Brendon is very arrogant and rude to Tori, and every time I say something he ends up yelling at her, I swear if he ever lays a hand on her I will kill him. They started dating about three years ago right before junior year stated, also shortly after my dad's accident. He's very controlling and when she would come over to comfort me or my sisters, he would start saying things like "Why don't you love me?", "Is there something I'm doing wrong?", "Do you not understand that you give him all your attention and ignore me?", "Babe it hurts me when you spend so much time with him". So, Tori being the, and forgive me for saying this, ignorant girlfriend stopped hanging around me and my family. Whenever Brendon isn't at work he's here with her, or at the movies with her, or having ice cream with her, or up in her room having....

"Bro incoming!!!" I heard Spencer shout, I turned my head and was met with a nice stinging pain to the face. Then, warm liquid dripped from my nose down my lips, shit, I thought as I was holding my nose and rushing out of the pool. "You ok man? Brendon has a really good arm and he hit the volleyball a little too hard" Spence said, trying to hold back his laugh, as I was making my way to the bathroom to grab some toilet paper.

"Yeah Bro I'm so sorry i have a good punch but not very good aim I guess", Brendon remarked as he was following me to the bathroom, I could hear the venom in his voice, he did this on purpose. I commented back, "It's fine man, accidents happen", and flushed the bloody paper tissue down the toilet.

"Hey Nate, you ok? That looked like a hard hit to the face. Here let me see", Victoria motioned towards me, but right as she reached me Brendon grabbed her arm, pulled her back, and said "He's fine Tori, it's just a little blow to the nose. He's not even bleeding anymore". Man I hate him so much, especially when he calls her Tori, that is my name for her no one else calls her that but me.

"Well put some ice on it so it doesn't bruise too bad", Victoria mentioned as she turned around to walk back towards the pool, Brendon close behind with a smirk on his face. I would like to punch him square in the nose, asshole.

I strode to the fridge and grabbed a bag of frozen peas from the freezer, placed it on my nose, and sat down on the black leather couch in the center of the basement. I remember when Tori's parents bought this couch, it was near our last day of third grade and we wanted to have a pool party to celebrate. Her parents refused at first, saying that they didn't want a bunch of eight year-olds getting water all over the couch and the carpet. But, with a little bit of pleading and a lot of begging they decided to let us have an awesome end of the year pool party. Then they had the basement remodeled after the party, the carpet was replaced with hardwood flooring and a black leather couch replaced the fabric sectional. That's also the year Kara and Victoria first met, they clicked instantly at school, and after that party they became the best of friends.

"Whatcha thinkin' about Clark?" Kara cut in, interrupting my thoughts.

"Oh, just the pool party from third grade", I responded. "I miss those days".

"Yeah tell me about it, that's when V's head was on straight and not in that douche-bag's ass", she said grabbing a few beers from the fridge. "When are you going to tell her?", I looked at her confused, "What do you mean?"

"I see it when you look at her Nate, you love her. And hey, I ship it, you're so much better than Freeman, you'd treat her how she's supposed to be treated. With love, kindness, compassion, affection, happiness..."

I set the peas down on the table next to the couch and turned to face her, "Kar I can't, if she doesn't feel the same way about me it could ruin our friendship. I wouldn't be able to live with that... without her".
