I'M SO SORRY for the delay!!!! Please forgive me :(
I had a busy week and have been struggling with the newest chapter I'm working on (Chapter 13) and I've been trying really hard to stay 3 chapter's ahead of what I post here, so I don't falter, but low and behold I faltered anyway in posting this a week late. Please don't hate me.
So basically I really wanted to finish Chapter 13 before posting this one but I still haven't and still posted late so yeah I suck, I failed, I'm sorry. BUT I promise no matter what, I will continue posting and finish this story! It might take a loooong time (hopefully not but I'm no guarantees) but I WILL COMPLETE THIS BOOK.
ANYWAY I'm going to stop rambling but hopefully this chapter is worth the wait and I swear I will post in a timely manner next weekend with Chapter 11!
Enjoy!!! :)
Sunday morning was spent in Gran's study. In other words, in the secret witches room, learning mysterious magical things. Gran had come into my bedroom at eight in the morning, and practically dragged me to the study, where we ate breakfast and then continued my learning experience. I never would have guessed being a witch required so much work. I suppose fiction got that part right with Hogwarts and other magic schools. But that was pretty much the only thing - wand waving and flying broomsticks were not part of the deal, unfortunately.
Even if witches were real, some things were still too good to be true.
At two o'clock I was finally released to enjoy the last of my weekend. With everything that had happened in the last forty-eight hours, including my late night with Noah yesterday, plus my early study session today, I was exhausted. I sat at the kitchen table, clutching a cup of coffee as I yawned. I hated plain black coffee. It was too bitter. But I was too tired to make myself anything that required more effort. Taking another sip, I grimaced at the taste. I wasn't even sure it was worth it at this point. I wasn't getting that caffeine energy rush everyone always claimed to have.
Just then Noah walked in and I looked up startled. He smiled and took a seat at the kitchen table across from me.
"Enjoying your coffee?"
"Not really," I made a face. "I'm just trying to make it through the day, and thought forcing myself to drink a bitter caffeinated beverage was smart." Noah laughed at that.
"Maybe try putting in some cream and sugar?" He smirked but I shook my head.
"Might as well embrace it," I muttered.
"Late night?" He asked, his eyes twinkling with amusement.
"It's not the late nights that are the problem, it's the early mornings," I countered, leaning my head on my arm. He chuckled in response.
"Why up early on a Sunday?" Noah asked, curious.
"I was helping Gran with something," I answered smoothly, hoping he wouldn't ask any questions.
"Any plans for the rest of the day?" Noah reached for an apple from the fruit bowl and took a bite. He didn't seem to have noticed my bluff, thankfully.
I shook my head, still sleepy. "Nope," I answered, popping the P. "What about you, lots to do?"
"Nah, your Gran went easy on me today. I'm pretty much done with everything." Noah smiled, his blue eyes meeting mine briefly. He brushed aside a lock of hair which had fallen across his forehead, when I realized I was staring at him again. I quickly looked down at my coffee and took another sip, which I immediately regretted. So bitter.
