Chapter One
I grab my jacket and start walking to the park. My boyfriend has set up a special picnic for us today. He is always so sweet and thoughtful. He always suprises me. As I walk into the park it is calm and peaceful. just as it always is this late at night. I walk over to our favorite spot and I am astonished by what I see.
"Matt, you shouldn't have!" I giggle. He has set up a feast of food. He also has blankets and pillows to lay on and colorful lanterns set up everywhere.
"But I wanted to Ashley. I wanted it to be special." He says sweetly.
"That's so sweet! Thank you." I move over to him and give him peck on the lips.
"Well," he says, "it is our one year anniversary."
"The happiest year of my life." I say as I make my way to the picnic he had set up.
After we finish, we lay down and gaze at the stars. "I love this so much. But I have to go home."' I say reluctantly.
"Okay..." he replies. We drive home in silence, wishing that the day didn't have to end so soon. We pull up into my driveway and Matt gives me a peck on the cheek. I get out of the car and walk to my doorway.
I look back at Matthew and he rolls his window down. "Oh Ashley I almost forgot!"
"Yeah?" I slowly walk back over to him.
"I can't hang out tomorrow like we planned. I've got work. Sorry." He frowns.
I feel a pang in heart, "Oh, that's fine." He nods and drives off. Matt has been doing this for the past week. That's why I was so shocked when he asked me to meet him at the park. Well, I'll just hang out with some friends tomorrow.
I wake up, get ready, and quickly call Samantha and ask her if she wants to got to the fair. She says yes and is over in 10 min.
She pounds on the door singing, "Were going to the fair! Were going to the fair!" I laugh and open the door. She falls down into the house with a loud thud.
She screams, "Help I've fallen and I can't get up!"
I laugh at her and help her up. "Come on, were gonna be late." She pretends to wobble the car and jumps in the drivers seat. We blast the music, pumped up for the fair.
When we get there, Sam immediately pulls me to the Tilt-A-Whirl. We jump on and the ride starts. By the time we have been on it about, five times, we decide to get off.
"Ooh!" Sam points to a photobooth and squeals. We run over open the curtain. We didn't notice that it was occupied, by Matt. And this random chick I've never seen before. I can't do anything but stand and gawk at them making out.
Matt notices me and stops, reaching out toward me. "Ashley! I can explain!"
"What the hell Matt?! You told me you had work to do! Is this what you call work?! You know you could've told me! Just say hey, I don't like you anymore so I'm gonna go makeout with some random chick! That would be so much better than just finding you here with some other girl!" I feet tears pricking at my eyes, but I blinked them back. "You know what Matt? I'm just gonna say it since you never had the balls to. We're through!" I run to the bathroom, fall to the floor, and let the tears fall. Sam comes over to me and rubs my back comfortingly.
I start to get up and Sam touches my shoulder, "Are you sure you're ready to go out there?" I nod and wipe my tears away.
I smile weakly and say, "Remember? What doesn't kill you makes you stronger." Sam smiles and walks out with me. We go to the bumper cars and get on separate cars.
They game starts and Sam immediately rams her car into my side.
"Oh no you didn't!" I am about to hit her car when someone rams into me from behind.
"Hey!" I put my hands on my hips.
He smiles and waves, "Hi."
"Oh, it's on!" I do a U-turn and ram into the front of his car. He pretends to be shocked and rams back into me. I hold up my hands in truce and point toward Sam. He smiles mischievously and nods. We both turn towards her and before she understands what were doing, we both ram the side of her car. Sam gets lucky because the ride stops. She gets out and playfully glares at me. I pretend to be inocent and mouth, 'What?'. She rolls her eyes and we walk over to the boy who helped me hit Sam.
"Hi. I'm Ashley." I wave at him and smile.
"And I'm Sam, the one you rammed into!" She puts her hands on her hips.
He laughs, "Hi. I'm Jordan."
"Yeah, you'll get used to her." I poke her in the stomach.
"Get used to her? Does that mean you want me to hang out with you?" He acts shocked.
"No, I just knew that you wanted to hang out with us because we are so awesome!" Sam and I cross our arms back to back.
"Yeah, sure. You're lucky you're cute." He rolls his eyes. I blush and Sam covers her heart. "Oh come on." He comes with us to many different rides till it's 8:00 at night.
"Ugh. I'm tired. I'm gonna go home. Ashley, are you okay staying here?" She pulls out her car keys.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I'll get a cab." She gives me a hug and waves goodbye.
"Or you know I could just drive you home. You don't have to call a cab." He puts his hand up and acts like he's on the phone.
"Okay. That sounds good, but lets ride some more rides first." I pull him along to the ferris wheel. When we get to the top, there are millions of stars above us.
"It's so beautiful up here." I say staring up at the sky.
'Yeah it is." I turn around to find him staring at me. I blush and turn away.
"I was talking about the stars." I look back at him.
"And I was talking about you."
