Police sirens.
Ambulances soaring down the street - get out of the way if you know what's good for you.
It's midnight. Of course it is, it always happens at midnight.
Children crying. Parents shutting blinds and curtains, hushing their babies. Neighbors yelling, swarming the streets, suffocating cops with their questions. What happened, what happened? they ask.
Tape goes up, all around the house, the tall one at the end of the street. It's a grand house with pillars and columns and lots of stairs. Towering doors. Windows of great height that demand authority. Someone important lives here.
At least, they used to.
What happened, what happened? More neighbors, more questions, more concern. Are we safe? they plead to know the truth.
No one is ever safe in Bryn Creek, one cop laughs. If you were uncomfortable with that, you should have moved a long time ago!
She is right.
Because sometimes, it's kind of scary living in Bryn Woods. This is usually when someone has been robbed.
Other times, it's extremely scary living in Bryn. Times where there's word of a car accident, suspiciously convenient for the time of day and the events that went down. Word of a gunshot. Word of murder.
Word of Cotheran Gray.
And then of course, it's always downright dangerous living in Bryn.
No one can deny it.
No one can avoid it.
Not even the richest man. Tonight proves it. Tonight everything changes.
It appears that Cotheran Gray has somehow managed to murder one of the most successful people in this town. Enough is enough. Something must be done.
