"I don't know guys, she seems super busy right now." Neville said, looking at the direction his crush was sitting. She looked so perfect just sitting there, talking to other people, he thought.

"C'mon Neville," Ron said, interrupting his thoughts. "She doesn't look that busy. Here I'll talk to her for you." He said.

"Ron, I don't think she likes you very much, in fact she told Harry and I that she thinks you're an utterly annoying git." Hermione said, Harry nodding along.

Just the sentence alone made Ron's blood boil. "Why- w-who does she think she is!" His face competing with is hair to see which could be more red.

"To be fair you did get her detention with Snape for talking in his class while he was teaching." Harry said, now making Hermione nod along.

All while the golden trio was arguing, Neville watched as Oliver Wood came up to Y/N L/N, his crush since second year. Now he was in his fourth year and he still hadn't built up the courage to tell her how he felt.

Y/N had stood up to give Oliver a big, long hug that last for about a minute. The pair started to talk, still standing up. Then that's when Neville got the wrong idea and started to overthink. Wood had made her laugh; he could hear her laugh from where he was sitting in the Great Hall, it sounded like a beautiful melody.

"Guys there's no po-"

"L/N!" Draco called. He passed the group, giving them death glares. Pansy Parkinson following in his footsteps. Making everyone in the Great Hall turn their heads.

"Ah, Malfoy- Oh hello Pansy." Y/N greeted.

"Hi Y/N. How hav-" Pansy started.

"Anyway, I was wondering if you'd care to join me to the Yule Ball." Draco asked, making Pansy's mouth drop, Y/N brows furrow, and Neville's heart stop.

He didn't want to hear the rest of the conversation, he already thought of all the outcomes and that made a pit in his stomach. If only he had the actual guts to ask you first. Neville started to get out of his seat when Harry put a hand on Neville's shoulder.

"What's wrong Neville?" Harry question.

"Um, I forgot about my potions essay. Please don't come to my dorm because I really have to work on it." Neville reassured.

"Oh, would you like me to help? I've already finished it, I could give you some prompts to start it." Hermione asked.

"No, no it's alright." Neville said, leaving the Great Hall without another word.

Ron turned back to look at his friends, a curious look on his face. "What was that about?"

"Well considering," Hermione said, looking between the two boys and Y/N and Draco. "That Malfoy and Y/N are talking, I'd say Malfoy asked her to the Yule Ball and Neville heard, but you two complete idiots were too busy being yourselves and not paying attention."

The two boys made an 'o' with their mouths.

"I'll talk to her, later in Charms today." Harry said.

Y/N entered the class, hands occupied with books. Harry saw her and waved his arm, signaling Y/N to sit with him. She looked around to see if he was talking to anyone else. She pointed to herself, looking back at the boy; he nodded shortly before waving his hand again.

Y/N had a concerned look on her face as she hadn't really talked to the 'Golden Trio' or their friends, other than Neville when they were partners in the classes they had together and Ginny Weasley and Luna Lovegood because Y/N just thought they were neat people.
