I awoke with a sharp intake of breath. The darkness that had previously clouded my vision was gone and instead a bright light shone into my eyes. Confusion immediately rushed through me and I frantically searched for an answer as to where I was. However my mind was blank and the further I searched for an answer the more light headed and dazed I got. Nothing. I couldn't remember a thing. I continued to search until.
"Mitch" I whispered. That was my name. I smirked triumphantly despite not knowing where I was. I turned my head to the left to face my hand. As I did so a drop of water rolled down my face. The sudden coldness of the wet caused me to flinch. Confusion swept through my mind as I moved my left hand up to my head to gently pat my hair. It was soaking wet. Was I dreaming? Bewildered I began to sit up, an ache in my chest becoming apparent. As I sat up I noticed my clothes were dripping with water. I brought my hand to my cheek. I was cold. It was like I had been swimming in the sea or something. Taking deep breaths, I stood up and looked around. I was sitting on the wooden panels of some sort of barn. There were no animals and room was empty. The smell of decay and dust filled the air making it harder to breathe. The bright light above me was coming from a single lightbulb located above my head. As far as I could see I was alone. I rubbed at my eyes thinking I was hallucinating. Yes, I didn't know who I was at the moment but I'm pretty sure I didn't live in an old barn and walked around like I had just fell into a well.
"Hello?" I called out meekly hoping someone might hear, "I must be dreaming." I muttered to myself as I became to pinch my pale, wet arms.
"Oh you're not dreaming." A soft voice called out from the shadows. A man stepped out from behind the door located near the exit. I had presumed it was locked and was too weak to try. He had ice blonde hair that made his piercing blue eyes stand out more. He was extremely tall and well built. The only thing disturbing about his appearance was the bruises around his neck. The vibrant purple marks standing out on his pale skin.
"We all thought that." An even deeper voice said from behind me. I turned around quickly at the introduction of a new voice. Another man stood in front of me. A beanie slightly askew on top of his long hair. His green eyes glittered in the light coming from the bulb. His beard was neatly trimmed and it looked like he was dressed for some sort of formal event. My eyes drifted to his pocket where a single plain ticket stuck out and then up to his stomach where a piece of shrapnel seemed to be lodged in his side. The blood wasn't fresh it was now a faded red mark. How did he survive-
"We all hoped. We were dreaming" a clear female voice rang out through the barn. A petite woman approached me; her long blonde hair hanging loose although the ends were covered in red. I gulped at the thought of what that was. Her pretty hazel eyes met the deep voiced mans and a sad smile crept onto her face. She was extremely gorgeous and I noticed her piercings as they caught the light. The light also revealed a slice in her neck. The open wound was still there but it was no longer bleeding. It was like time had frozen for her.
Another man joined the circle of people now surrounding me. His intelligent brown eyes looking sadly into mine. He reached out his hand to help me to my feet. His hand was warm and strong. He had a slight beard and was wearing a baseball cap on his head. I studied him for a moment before noticing the bullet wound in his chest. Again it was as if he was frozen in time. I didn't understand. Why didn't he say anything and as if he could read my mind he uttered those words that sent me crashing down again.
"Then we realised. We were dead."
