Anyone Out There?

Chapter Two

Once again, I'm trying to escape from these mindless zombies. I mean, what is wrong with these zombies? I'm only 18 for God's sake.

The shed is completely surrounded by zombies. The zombie I attacked must have told his 'little friends'.

Think, D. Think

I paced around the tiny shed until I slipped on God knows what and bumped into the table which make me kick the lawnmower that went flying to the wall.

Wow, Dakota. Even through the zombie apocalypse, you managed to slip and cause a huge mess.

At least, the wall didn't break. I looked down to where the lawnmower used to be and was shocked to see that there was a door. How come I didn't notice that before? I must be blind. 

The shed door started rattling and zombies started piling in, one by one. Having no choice, I quickly took my backpack, opened the door and went down the ladder. Immediately, I was overwhelmed. 

Whoa.

I thought it would take me to the sewer but no, I somehow ended in some lair. I walked around the room, seeing all sorts of abnormal stuff. Weapons were located everywhere in the room, but in the middle of the room, there was a guy, probably a few years older, tied upside down. He seems to be sleeping. I couldn't say that he wasn't good looking because if I did, I'd be lying. 

What am I doing? I just saw this guy and already, I think he's attractive? Hell no, this is way too creepy. He might be a villain for all I know.

"Hey"

Startled, I slowly turned around. I found the guy that was upside down awake with a smirk on his handsome face.

"Hunter Trevors. Your name?'

I hesitated before saying, "How do I know you're not a villain?"

'If I was a villain, I would have already shot you with a gun by now. And what kind of villain ties himself upside down so that he has no chance of getting down?"

Shit, he had a point. 

"Dakota Sterling." I told him before asking, "Why are you tied upside down?"

I mentally slapped myself for asking such an obvious question.

"Someone tied me. Duh. Look, could you please get me down? I'll explain everything to you once we're out of here. Please just untie me before Aeron gets back."

"Aeron? Who the hell is Aeron?"

"Please, just get me down and I'll explain everything to you, I promise." Hunter begged.

"You better." I threatened.

I bent down to my ankle, took my pocket knife out of my sock and began cutting the ropes that Hunter was tied with. When he was finally free, he took my hand and started running.

"Explain." I said.

We ran for about 30 minutes and I was dead tired. We're now at a house. His house, I guess.

Hunter sighed before saying, "Aeron. Aeron was the one who tied me up. He was supposed to turn me into a zombie, too but he decided to use me for experiments instead. Thankfully, he hasn't done anything to me yet. But yeah, Aeron's the one who's controlling the zombies."

I was shellshocked. Aeron? As in the Aeron that was in the same math class as me? He was the one controlling the zombies? What the heck, he's a nerd! 

"Anyways" he winked, "I thought you were like those plastic barbies. Using your lipstick to defend yourself." He let out a chuckle.

I hit him on the shoulder hard before replying, "Ha-ha. Don't be so judgemental." I paused for a while. "If Aeron knows you escaped, he's probably got the zombies looking for you. We'll take turns looking out for them." I grabbed his shirt and pushed him against a wall, my face merely centimetres from his. "I take this really seriously. If you mess up, I swear, you won't be able to see daylight ever again." I changed my demeanor and smiled fakely, "Got it?"

He gulped noisily. "Got it."

I rummaged through his kitchen until I found some tea bags and cookies. I made myself a mug and ate some cookies. I laid on the couch and before my head hit the pillow, I said to Hunter,

"I'm taking a nap. Wake me up if anything happens."

Wow, quite a long chapter this time :) but ughhh, i have math homework. wtf? don't you just hate math? Whatever, I'll do it tomorrow.
