A dark aura pierced through Seokjin's 'safe, cosy bubble' created only for the purpose of shielding him from the eternal misery that looms over him; hindering him, terrorizing him, killing him slowly.
Pitiful it may be, but what would one do if fate itself decides your suffering - he was besieged in a masquerade of pretence, lies and unfulfilled promises. He was drowning. Drowning in regret. Drowning, yet not a single drop of water in sight.
A string of sighs were relieved of Seokjin's mouth, as he placed his book down on the coffee table. His tired eyes aimlessly wondered around the pinterest perfect living room. Rubbing his temples aggressively, an overwhelming sense of yearning, regret and self-pity coursed through Seokjin's body.
It permeated his nostrils, the rank scent of his past mistakes stung more than a 1000 wasps ever could. It corrupted his thoughts, urging him to submit to the crimson beads of regret he now calls his friend. It kills him. It kills him to the point of suffocation. Seokjin can't breathe. He can't breathe. He's trapped. He's drowning. Someone save him from his sorrows. His never - ending sorrows.
His gaze turned to the mirror, his old friend. One he used to spend an unholy amount of time with admiring his once ethereal beauty. Fragile fragments of a memory of another lifetime he set to flames within his mind graced his head once again.
A light summer haze clouded his mind as he immersed himself within the heart breaking memory. Seokjin's bitter smile faltered when he saw his childhood sweetheart.
His face engraved in every atom in Seokjin's defiled body. How could he forget ? They were blinded by the amount of pure love they both held for each other. Starstruck lovers. Nothing could part them. Be it hell or heaven. Or so they thought...
Flashback
"Hah! Come on, we're nearly there. Trust me you'll LOVE it!"spoke Seokjin's then boyfriend, with eagerness and excitement laced in his voice.
"Alright! Race you there, last one there's a rotten egg! You better watch out 'cuz I'm gonna win!"Seokjin's younger self playfully declared to the love of his life, the bane of his existence.
Seokjin stood awestruck at the top of the hill, overlooking the vast acres of fields below him. He couldn't speak, it was so breathtakingly picturesque he could force any words out of his now sinful mouth.
"Oh my....it's so beautiful. I can't speak..it's so pretty. I might cry. How did you find such a beautiful place? I love it!"
"All for you my Prince, but nothing can compare to your beauty. Even Aphrodite is envious of your stunning features. I love you Seokjin. Neverforgetthat. So, will you..um...marry me?"
Words escaped Seokjin yet again. He couldn't believe his ears. This was the best moment in his life. He will always cherish this moment forever.
"I... of courseI will!" Seokjin managed to stutter before letting loose a waterful of crystal tears.
The fairy tale lovers kissed and sat beneath an oak tree watching the sunset, entangkes within each other's arms. It was perfect.
End of flashback
Wiping salty beads that rolled down his soft cheeks, that were once peppered with sweet, loving kisses, his innocent doe eyes blurry with tears, that were once crying, crying with laughter now reduced to such.
Knees buckling and weakening, he fell to the cold floor (where he spent most of his time now) and let out a melody of bitter laughs that morphed into a fit of uncontrollable, hysteric crying.
His stomach churned with regret. It was eating him up. Devouring him whole. What felt like centuries ago, he tried to fight it, but soon realised he can't. He has to sow what he reaped. He has to repent for his mistakes. He has to accept his devastating fate. Try as he might, he can't leave. But does he really want to?
With endless thoughts lingering in his head, he was lulled to sleep. A sense of unusual peace coated him. His once dainty hands lay beside his 'lifeless' body.
You can't save someone who has already drowned.
