[CHAPTER TWELVE: Not The Only Ones]

"LUNA!!!" Minzy yelled as she climbed as fast as she could down the ladder, her voice muffled by the gas mask strapped to her face. Her breathing was labored as if she had just run a marathon.

"What?" Luna asked, fear driving it's paralyzing stake into her heart. Minzy's voice sounded panicked, and Luna did not like that.

"We're not alone!"

Dear Journal,

We haven't been to the surface in three days to get water. Ever since Minzy saw the Mofia men, we've all been too afraid to go up top. According to Minzy, they wore the symbol of the Mofia; an orange triangle with a yellow eye in the middle. And they were rounding up any survivors they found. She doesn't know where they were taking them. She didn't stick around to find out. I don't blame her. We disguised the hatch door as best we could, but still, everyone is afraid to make a sound, let alone move. We sit staring at the floor or the wall or the ceiling or table, as if they hold the answers to all our problems. But they don't. Trust me, I've asked. I think I'm going crazy down here.

-Luna

"Where do you think you're going?" Minzy asked as Luna was tying her boots.

"I'm going to spy."

"That's idiotic! What if you get caught?"

"I won't."

"And if you do?"

"I have my guns and my knife."

"And what are we supposed to do if you die?"

"Live. Honestly, I don't care anymore. I'm going crazy just sitting down here watching our food and water supply dwindle. If there's Mofia soiliders, then that means there's a base. And if there's a base, that means there's supplies. And if there's supplies, that means we can find a way to steal them."

"Woah, woah, woah! We? I'm not helping you with this! This is stupid!"

"I wasn't talking about you. You're staying here to watch the children. Jinwan is helping me." Jinwan raised his hand and waved with a grim smile from across the room.

"You all are gonna die," Minzy huffed before storming off to the shooting range. She would always practice shooting when pissed off.

"Hey Minzy!" Luna called after her. "Stop wasting the ammunition. You may need that soon." Minzy huffed and went to practice archery instead.

"You ready?" Luna asked Jinwan as they both shouldered their packs.

"More than ready," he answered eagerly. "So done with this hole. Ya know, until we get into trouble. And then I'll accept the safety and seclusion of this hole." Jinwan smiled and Luna chuckled slightly. But it was a heartless laugh and a souless smile. They both knew that. Noone had truly smiled since this all begun.

Luna hugged Rain and then River, kissing their chubby cheeks as Jinwan did the same to Seungkwan and Wren. "Be good for Minzy noona, okay?" Luna told the boys. They nodded obediently. "I'll be back in a couple days. I'll miss you."

"I'll miss you too noona," River said sadly while hugging her neck.

"Please find mommy and daddy," Rain solemly whispered as he hugged her slim waist.

Luna bit her lip to keep from crying as she nodded slowly at Rain. "I'll try. Good bye. Love you."

Before she could get pulled back in to staying, Luna ascended the ladder, with Jinwan right behind her.

Dear Journal,

Jinwan and I have found the base. We followed a patrol back to their point of origin. The base is in the wheat fields outside the city limits. They have supply trucks coming in almost every day. The place is swarming with Mofia men. Jinwan and I spy by night and hide by day. Tomarrow we're heading back to the hatch before we get caught and to form a plan.

-Luna.

Dear Journal,

We arrived back at the hatch safely and without being detected. I was looking to some much needed rest, but unfortuneately, the urenals overflowed while we were gone, and Minzy wasn't sure what to do. So now I have quite a lot of cleaning and plumbing to do before I can sleep. Gross.
