I made my way to the entrance of Hogwarts, feeling relieved to be back. I love it here, love the escape from family drama, and love being with my friends, - although - I would never admit that to them.
"I cant wait for the buffet." I overhead Crabbe say.
"When are you ever not thinking about food?" Pansy retorted back.
"When he's asleep." Draco said. He had caught up with us after we left the train when he said he had forgotten something.
I smiled subtly to myself, not realising how much I had missed my friends over the summer. I couldn't believe we are beginning our sixth year, and we will only have one more together after this. That's if, we make it that far, with well, everything that's going on. A wave of anxiety washed over me as I worried what my parents will get involved in whilst i'm gone, or, who they'll get involved with. The ever growing threat of Lord Voldemort has caused a shadow of paranoia to fall over us the last couple of years. My parents were followers back in the day, not exactly Death Eaters, but they served him, and the fear he will call on them again sits within me like a knot in my stomach.
I noticed that Draco had slowed down behind the rest of the group, and slowed my pace to match his.
"Hey." I said casually. He looked lost in thought, before glancing sideways. "Hey Daphne."
I raised an eyebrow, "that's all I get? I haven't seen you all summer and all I get is hey?"
He rolled his eyes, a small smirk on his mouth.
I shrugged. "I'm gonna pretend you missed me."
Me and Draco have known each other since we were young, before we started at Hogwarts, our families are good friends. I'm pretty much the only person who can make fun of him without him turning on me. I could sense something was up with him.
"How's things, at home?" I asked, as softly as I could. He looked at me, really looked at me this time.
"You know." He spoke.I nodded in understanding, "Yeah."
We both are under pressure from our parents, but I can only imagine how it must be for Draco, with his parents being death eaters.
Pansy and Goyle were arguing over which teacher they hated more.
"Yeah, but do you remember when Buckbeak injured Draco? And Hagrid did nothing!" Goyle exclaimed.I scoffed. "Injured is an exaggeration."
Draco jumped in to defend himself, "That beast broke my arm! Still have the scar to prove it."
"How convenient you have that suit on to hide it." I glared at him.
The great hall was a spectacle as always, with the house colours decorated all around, and the tables brimming with food. We had just finished the sorting of the new first years, and the feast had begun. I was pouring myself a glass of pumpkin juice when someone caught my attention across the table by throwing a crumb. I looked over to see a familiar face, Blaise Zabini. I stared back. He pointed a finger at me, then at him, then mouthed the word "tonight."
I laughed, shaking my head. Wow. We're not even back one day and he wants to hook up again. I looked at him again, he raised an eyebrow waiting for my response.
"Fine." I mouthed.
Let's just say, what happens in the Slytherin dormitory, stays in the slytherin dormitory. The feast had ended, and everyone had gone to their dormitories to get ready for bed. Whereas I was going to meet Blaise. I crept out of my dorm, tiptoeing to make sure I didn't awake Pansy and Millicent. I was still in my school clothes, as if I was going to creep around in my lingerie. I made my way out of the dormitory, and walked along the daunting Hogwart's corridors until I found the blank wall that I knew was the entrance to the room of requirement. I had discovered this room a year ago, when I needed to be alone and it suddenly appeared to me. I paced past the wall three times, until the door appeared and I slipped inside. I already knew where I was going, there was a bed on the far left side of the room of requirement, it was a bit of a maze to get to but then again I had been here quite a few times. I turned a corner past a tall, dark wardrobe and there I found it, a purple bed with a black iron frame. Blaise was lying on the bed, throwing a ball and staring at the ceiling. He got up immediately as he saw me. "Daphne Greengrass." He smiled.
"Blaise." I greeted.
"How are you?" He asked, although he didn't really seem interested.
I sighed, "i'm fantastic, let's skip the formalities shall we?"
He lunged forward and his lips were on mine, and my arms were round his neck. There was nothing serious going on between us, it was purely casual, no strings or feelings attached, which is the way we both like it. Our jumpers were off and he was helping me out of my top, as I slipped out of my skirt, revealing my black lacy underwear. We were about to get onto the bed when suddenly the noise of footsteps halted us where we were.
"Someone's coming. It must be Filch. Hide!" Blaise whispered frantically. He ran off before I could even realise what was going on. I looked around as the footsteps grew louder and panicked, running back the way I came, toward the tall wardrobe. I fumbled on the handle and climbed inside.
I tried to slow my breathing and looked around at the darkness inside the wardrobe. There was a shelf above me which held a small cage, with a little bird inside tweeting. The footsteps grew even louder, and I had no clue what to do. I desperately tried to put my top back on in the dark, and ended up punching myself in the face.
That's when the door opened.
I fell out on top of it, my arms still stuck above my head in my shirt.
"Fuck!" I exclaimed as I fell to the floor.
I rolled over off my face to see none other than Draco Malfoy standing above me, a look of surprise plastered over his face.
