Chapter 11

Sam's POV

Mel: Happy Birthday Sam!

S: Why!?!?

Mel: Aren't you happy that I'm- Carly! Spencer! Freddie!

I turned around. Carly looked really excited, Spencer, well, was smiling normally, while Freddie looked shocked. I let Melanie in. Well more like she pushed me out of the way to hug them. Once when Freddie recovered from shock and Melanie let go she saw Michelle.

Mel: You're babysitting right now? On your birthday?

S: Yes. Well, kind of. Not really. No?

Mel: I'm not understanding. Is she your- no! That can't be possible! You would never do anything like that!

S: I didn't. But yes she is mine.

M: Is this aunt Melanie?

S: Yes. Mel, this is Michelle. Michelle, this is your aunt Melanie.

Mel: Mom was right.

S: About what!? What could that psycho be right about!?

Mel: I was always the responsible one.

She practically whispered it but we all heard it.

Mel: I come to visit my sister on our birthday and I find that she got pregnant!

S: It wasn't my fault! You don't know how many therapy sessions I went to to think that! I spent more time at the guidances councilors office than in my classes to think that it wasn't my fault! And you're saying that it is! Either you can deal with this or leave! I'm glad I had Michelle! I love her with all my heart! It wasn't my fault so please don't make me think that! 

F: Sam, calm down.

S: I didn't do what you think Melanie. It just happened.

Mel: I just don't understand why.

S: Why what?

She moved closer to me and dropped her voice to a whisper.

Mel: Why did you keep her?

I slapped Melanie across the face.

Mel: Ow!

C: Why did you do that Sam?

S: Never ask me that again.

C: Me?

S: Not you. Melanie.

Spence: What'd she ask?

S: Michelle can you please go into the bedroom?

M: Ok.

She ran to the bedroom.

S: She asked why I didn't get rid of Michelle.

C: Why would you ask that!?

Mel: Because! Sam, you are still in high school! It's to much work to juggle being a babysitter, going to school, and taking care of a kid!

S: No it's not! I've been doing things by myself my whole life! Our so called mother never took care of me! She was always out at bars, bringing home drunk boyfriends, and just plain hurting me! You had it good, I didn't! Life was fine until our dad left! Then it all went down hill for me while you went off to some fancy boarding school!
