Bad impressions huh?

I pull out my yellow notebook from a secret compartment from my suitcase. This is where I write my thoughts.

Uh no it's not a diary!

I write poems, yeah I know so much better than a diary.
(Note the sarcasm!)

But when I was young and in middle school I wrote spoken word poems, and I preformed them.

I wrote about everything and anything, some of them were actually good.
But when you preform a spoken word poem.

Then it's like magic.

Here's what I got so far:

I can't feel my smile anymore

Did you leave me
Just like everyone else
Did I not do enough
Did I not laugh every time you told me a joke
Did I not hug you every time you where sad

Is it because
I feel guilty
Every time I look in the mirror
When you're not there

——————
Yes I am aware that it is not good but sometimes it feels like writing is the only thing I know how to do besides swimming.

Ah swimming

After last night I'd love to just let my body take me back and forth through the pool.

"WAKE UP EL! ITS TIME FOR BREAKFAST! WE'RE LATE!" Haylee wakes me up from my daydreaming.

Ugh darn these collage people for making breakfast so early!

"Can we just skip breakfast, I mean I'm not even that hungry," I say smiling at Haylee. After last night Haylee helped me clean up myself and we got here. She didn't ask any questions, I didn't explain anything.

"Yeah you won't be saying that when you start asking what time lunch is," Haylee says in between brushing her teeth.

"Fine, fine I'll get up," I remove the covers from myself and start unpacking some of my clothes for today.

—————

The cafeteria is packed

I just hope there's food left, Haylee was right, I am hungry.

What? I get hungry fast! Don't judge!

When I get to the lunch ladies, they only have omelette.

Okay confession time:
I've never had an omelette.

I take the tray from the lunch ladies and head back to my seat.

Haylee's already sitting down at an empty table, honestly I'm surprised Haylee doesn't have any more friends by now! Like obviously she's gonna be my only friend, but Haylee seems like, you know, the nice popular girl.

"Hey girl," Haylee says eating her pancakes.

"Ugh, you get pancakes and I get this!" I point to my omelette.

Haylee shrugs and smiles.
I glare at her, only she knows I'm not really mad at her.

She's the only person I've ever met that doesn't bug me to tell her what happened.
She's the only person that doesn't feel any pity for me.

"You better eat up, first period starts in 15 minutes," Haylee pretends to scold me.
I laugh, forcing the first bite of the omelette in my mouth.

"Huh this is even that bad!" I smile and talk with my mouth open.

Manners? What's that?

THEN IT HITS!

My whole mouth goes numb
Well not really but it feels like it does.
I don't know why I ever thought this omelette was good.

IT TASTES HORRIBLE!

I spit it out in front of me.

Correction: I spit it on someone in front of me.

"What the hell Ellery?!" Andy asks, the frown sitting on his face, doesn't look like it's about to leave any time soon.

Wait what was he doing in front of me anyway.

"In my defense I didn't see you," I say giving him my puppy eyes so he'll forgive me.

He snorts!

SNORTS.

"I don't have time for THIS right now." He says and walks away.

And I just stand there, like the loser I am.
Like who does he think he is, I've literally spend my whole life with him and I've never seen him this bad.

He slams a paper on my desk and moves to another cafeteria table handing out the flyers.
Oh well now I know why he was here.

"Ugh boys. Don't think too much about it okay Ellery?" Haylee says next to me, giving me a side hug.

I nod.
Barely.
