"Any progress?" Johnny asked, looking at the girl who walked alongside him. "How should I be knowing about the case?" Aera let out a laugh at those words before looking at the elder.
"No, I meant about Haechan and you" Johnny corrected and hearing him she fell silent, turning to face her front as they walked. "I don't know.. better than before but I don't see us going anywhere" She simply shrugged with a sigh falling from her lips.
"And with Jisung?" "Yes! Oh god we made up and I'm telling you I'm probably the most happiest person on this earth right now!" Aera excitedly spoke, a wide smile forming on her lips as she spoke about her brother earning a small laugh from Johnny.
Johnny was about to speak but was abruptly stopped when a hand came throwing around Aera's shoulder, pulling her closer to the person.
"Hey there beautiful" Instantly recognizing the voice, Aera placed a hand on theirs which was hooked around her shoulder, a smile spreading on her face.
"Says you" Aera commented upon hearing her being called 'beautiful' and a laugh left the elder's lips. "Who's the lucky guy who got this beautiful person as his soulmate?" Aera remained silent to that question, unsure of anything that dealt with her soulmate.
"Yuyu" Johnny mumbled out, tugging on her hand and Biyu turned to look at him only to see him shaking his head. "Oh.. sorry" Biyu muttered out an apology, quickly retracting her hand that was placed around her shoulder.
"No I'm ok, it's just.. my soulmate is Haechan" Aera replied taking Biyu by surprise. "Haechan?! You mean Lee Haechan? The leader of Azurite Neo??" She asked with wide eyes and Aera gave a nod.
"It probably sounds great to hear when I say Haechan's my soulmate but honestly, our jobs don't let us stay together- a mafia member and an undercover agent can't get togeth—" "Yea Yea, that's literal nonsense" Biyu interjected.
"You see, Johnny and I are happy together though I work as a medic for a gang and he's an agent- it's all just love Aera, love binds you two irrespective of whatever your job is" Biyu stated, linking her arms with Johnny, wide smiles plastered as the two soulmates shared a look.
"And that's if love exists in between us, in the first place" Aera mumbled out, huffing out air knowing it was just her having her one-sided feelings for her soulmate.
"Does he care for you?" "In the sense?" "Does he make time for you?- like, get worried when you go missing or stay up a whole night for you though he's tired..?" Aera paused for a second, slightly unsure about her reply but nonetheless gave Biyu's a nod in agreement making the couple share a look of surprise.
"There you go, that's love Aera- caring is love and he cares for you" Biyu said, patting her shoulder assuringly.
"By the way, my mom's waiting in my room to meet you Suh, let's go" "What? Again??" "Yes darling, let's get going. Bye Aera!" Biyu yelled out as she dragged Johnny along with her inside the phase 4 building, leaving Aera alone.
Aera walked away towards the phase 2 building- eyes aimlessly wandering around as she mulled over Biyu's words from earlier. Millions of thoughts clouding her mind but her thoughts were abruptly brought to a stop when she bumped into someone making her stumble back but soon regained her balance.
"Ow! I'm sorr— Donghyuck?" Aera looked up, her black eyes meeting his hazel orbs- his gaze never leaving hers and her heart fastened it's pace as they maintained the eye contact.
"Where were you?" He asked sternly and even before she could reply, he rolled his eyes uninterested to hear her out.
"You are not going anywhere without my consent Aera" Donghyuck warned making her knit her brows together. "I can defend myse—" "No" Donghyuck interjected making her press her lips into a thin line.
Before she could process his move, he extended his arm clasping his fingers around her hand and dragged her along with him inside the building.
"All you do is get me worried" He muttered out before mumbling something incoherent under his breath but nonetheless it was clearly audible to Aera.
'Caring is love and he cares for you'
"Donghyuck.." Aera called out making him stop before turning to look at her. "Do you care.. about me?" She asked, tilting her head to her side, expectantly looking at him for his response.
Donghyuck ranked his eyes over her face for a few seconds before turning to fully face the girl- his gaze flickered down to his hand that held hers and back at her. "I do Aera" And those words sent her heart thumping within her chest, a wide smile pulling up on her lips as she looked up at him, contented to hear those words from him.
